Family Went Down to GA, Lookin' For Some R&R...
*****
We make a trip to Appalachia every year, and this year we decided to venture a little further south and away from all the big city tourism of the Gatlinburg area. We really wanted a place where we could rest, relax, and spend some quality family time together, and both Ellijay and this cabin fit the bill perfectly! Upon entering, the cabin looked and smelled wonderfully clean, and though we came prepared with some basic necessities (we've learned to always be prepared!), there was a generous supply of dish soap, hand soap, garbage bags, and tp provided for our stay. The main living area felt open and airy with its vaulted ceilings and wall to wall windows that provided an abundance of natural light and a beautiful view of the back yard and rushing stream. The 3 bedrooms were all spacious and furnished charmingly, the beds on the firmer side, but comfortable. We had extended family with us for about half of our week long trip, and even with 4 adults and 4 kids under 7 under its roof, the cabin felt wonderfully spacious. Christy the property manager was very accommodating and saw to the one little issue we had with a faulty propane tank on the grill in a very timely manner. Other than that little thing, the house and property surrounding it were blissfully perfect. Hands down, one of the best Appalachian vacations we've ever been on! We definitely plan to return in the future! Of interest for anyone thinking of booking Black Bear Creek Cabin: About 2 miles or so from the cabin we found a wonderful farm store - Mountain Valley Farm Store - that had delicious homemade ice cream and their hormone free, grass fed meats kicked us off on a few farm to table style dinners. Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge (~30 minute scenic drive) had a fantastic country store with delicious produce and baked goods. Morganton Point Recreation Area (~30 minute scenic drive) has a gorgeous lake set in the mountains with a beach, only $5 to park for the day, and very reasonable prices for kayaks & paddle boards.
