Help save the Rainforest ! the Tambopata National Reserve has wide variety of scientific and adventure activities, and is an excellent example of how ecotourism can help recover wildlife in the Amazon jungle. It is the headquarters of the Wired Amazon Program, so you will have the opportunity to participate in scientific projects for the conservation of Tambopata. During your stay you will:

This is Kuaymayojo or Autana Tepui, located deep in the Venezuelan Amazon Rainforest. It represents the Tree of life for the local Piaroa Indians who worship the giant Tarantula as a channel for spiritual travel and health. Come join us on this Jungle Adventure!

TRIP REPORT. Hiking up Roraima Tepui
My son and I visited Roraima with Akanan Adventures. It was a fantastic trip (10 out of 10). We flew to Caracas where we were met at the airport and taken to our hotel. The next day we took a tour of the mountains between Caracas and the ocean, where we got great views of Caracas and the ocean. That evening we flew to Puerto Ordaz, where we were again met at the airport and taken to our hotel. Very early the next morning, we were picked up and driven through the Grand Savannah to San Francisco. The drive was about 12 hours. We had an excellent driver Pablo from Cruz de Bolivar. After a night in San Francisco, we started our trek. My son, who was not feeling well, was able to get a motorcycle to take him the first 11 km. The next four days we camped at beautiful campsites with no one else at the campsites besides our group . We were extremely grateful that our tour took place, despite there being only two of us! All in all, the trip was amazingly well organized. Juan Carlos, head of Akanan, always seemed to be in touch with whoever was accompanying us. Although we pretty much crossed the entire Venezuela and visited Caracas, we always felt that we were in good hands and never felt threatened or in danger. Most of the Venezuelans and indigenous people that we met were extremely friendly and curious. Overall, it was a fabulous experience, and I can highly recommend the trip, Venezuela and the Venezuelans. I almost never give a rating of 10, but this adventure definitely deserves a 10
