Hot spots don’t stay hot forever, and when they cool we just have to find new ones. In the morning we hunted around picking shorts until we found a nice piece holding some bigger fish, as well as an enormous sea turtle. Bob scores a keeper on the anniversary of Kenny’s passing - he’s caught a lot of fish this year but has struggled with keepers. Kenny surely gave him a boost today.

In the afternoon, we caught fish everywhere we went - good solid action throughout. Even pulled up a rare right-eyed summer flounder. While it was hot hot HOT inland, out on the water was absolutely wonderful, especially with the Bimini top up.

There’s not much left available for June. Last year, by the end of June most of July was already booked up so don’t wait too long.

Today was the best day of fishing so far this season!! Big Daddy Caz made an appearance and pulled up his first keeper ever on the first drift. I had caught my keeper literally at the same time. While no one earned a SPECIAL EDITION hat today, the wealth was spread around pretty well. Dave, a regular for the tog season, took his daughter Ashley out for their first flounder trip and we ALLLL know how that goes… Ashley pushes Priscilla out for June’s Heaviest Flounder Pool with a 4.04 lb flattie. George nails a couple more keepers to take home to wrap up his vacation, and Bob and Maureen got themselves a couple of dinners.

In the afternoon, we switched gears and went hunting for stripers. Wind significantly picked up and so did the water temp, but we found where they were hiding. Unfortunately the falling tide forced us out before we could grab a couple more. The bluefish and flounder enjoyed the spot as well.

I know I keep saying this, but what a fantastic day out on the water!! We caught fish all day long, had beautiful sunny skies all day, and had no bugs.

May’s pool winner Steve strikes again in the morning, scoring 2 more keepers to bring his season total up to 8. He was kind enough to let his brother hold one this time 😆

The bite continued through the afternoon. Robert from Ohio brought his crew out looking for some doormats and they slayed it, pulling in 3 fish over 3 lbs. Another SPECIAL EDITION hat for another limit. Priscilla came up just shy of earning herself a hat as well, but she did raise the bar on June’s Heaviest Flounder Pool to 3.67 lbs. Great job guys - best afternoon trip of the season so far.

Another beautiful day out on the water! Hopefully that crappy spring weather has been left in the rear view mirror, and I’m quite certain I’m not alone in that.

Yesterday Diane commented on my post that she was gonna be holding fish today, and so she is! Eunice nailed a nice one as well, and Tank took home his 6th of the season. Some nice fish went back that will hopefully be big enough by the end of summer. Diane’s fish topped Bonita’s fish yesterday, and then Eunice’s fish edged out Diane’s by less than a tenth of a pound. 2.78 lbs is the new mark for June’s Heaviest Flounder Pool.

George nailed an afternoon keeper on an extremely light trip. Sometimes I get asked why I go out with just 1 or 2 people. There are several reasons, but the simplest one is - I like to fish too!!!

The Capille family came out today and absolutely crushed it! They were supposed to have come out a couple years ago, but I had to cancel on them when Jenny Lynn broke her foot. I’m glad they finally made it out, and I’m sure they’ll be back. Young Al had about the best birthday fishing trip one could ask for, becoming the youngest person to get their limit earning that much coveted SPECIAL EDITION hat! He also got to spend some time driving the boat, which he did remarkably well.
Bonita sets the bar for June’s heaviest flounder pool at 2.60 lbs.
Fried flounder for dinner for them tonight!

The trolling motor really put in work yesterday! Normal battery usage after 8 hours is about 30%. Yesterday? 80%. Thought I was going to have to switch to the backup! In the morning Rocco came up just shy of winning May’s Heaviest Flounder Pool, which leaves Steve as the winner! He can either choose to use his winnings for himself or spread it around to his whole crew, since they’re coming back out this week. The afternoon was tougher than the morning, but we had first timer Christina onboard to show us how it’s done. While apprehensive about holding it (in the moment), she didn’t hesitate to proudly display her fish. No apprehension at all back at the dock for my pic.

Another fantastic day of fishing! While the bite wasn’t as crazy as earlier in the week, we had a steady bite and pulled some quality fish.

Tim brought the boys back out and they put in the work. Apparently “Slim Jim’s” were the bait of choice… at least that’s what I kept hearing whenever anyone asked what they caught their fish on. Tim came up just short of earning his SPECIAL EDITION hat. Jenny Lynn LOVES the shirt, btw. Thanks again!

Sal and Rusty got rained out for Wednesday afternoon but they were able to reschedule for this afternoon, and were well rewarded! Like Tim, Sal came up just shy of his limit and earning a SPECIAL EDITION hat. More specifically, a second hat - he scored a hole-in-one. Rusty nailed the biggest fish of the day, but didn’t unseat Steve for May’s pool. Special thanks to first timer (fishing with me) Brian for breaking in the new conventional rods - first fish on a new rod is always the hardest. He did the heavy lifting so you all don’t have to!

This is “air show”weekend, so hopefully we will see more than some sky shapes and a few flybys tomorrow.

Really good action again today! We caught fish everywhere we went, which, as a captain, is a particular kind of special. Didn’t see rain in the forecast but fortunately it didn’t hit us for long. Wind was pleasant and mostly kept the bugs at bay. 3.45 lbs is still the mark to beat with 2 days left. I know Steve is watching closely with 2 free trips on the line. Carly wasted no time trying to reclaim the crown. Monday starts the next pool.
