A message from our volcano Guides on Mt Etna:
- Yesterday Mt Etna gave us one of its big shows ... and we enjoyed it in complete safety and in compliance with the rules.
We know that some images can be impressive, but often what seems close is actually very far away - and the media prefers a sensational narrative -
Our job is to protect, guide and make you experience the volcano with awareness and safety.
During today’s paroxysmal event, a portion of the South-East summit crater (which overlooks the southern slope of Etna) collapsed, generating a pyroclastic flow inside the Valle del Leone (which overlooks the Valle del Bove) on the eastern slope of Etna, an unfrequented area largely off-limits to access, given the danger of potential events.
Thanks to those who experienced this extraordinary day with us today. Etna spoke and we listened to it, from a safe place -
We would like to add that we did not cancel any excursions yesterday, and also the clients scheduled on the excursion today confirmed that they wanted to do it, proving that through the screen the perception of facts can appear very different than it actually is.
