It may seem like a small thing, especially if you've been to Disney a lot. But if you're planning your first trip, these are exactly the little things you may not know until you're already there.

I love having a plan at Walt Disney World. I just don’t want the plan to become the vacation. 🏰

There are things worth planning ahead for—the attractions your family really wants to experience, the restaurants you’ve been looking forward to, and those moments you know would be disappointing to miss.

That’s where I think a good Disney plan starts.

But once we’ve taken care of the priorities, there should still be room to wander a little. Stop for a snack. Watch a parade you weren’t planning to watch. Take the boat because it sounds more fun than the bus. Sit on a bench for a few minutes and just enjoy being at Disney.

A good plan shouldn’t make you feel like you’re running behind all day.

It should give you the confidence to relax because you know the things that matter most have already been thought through.

Cruise lines keep reporting record numbers of passengers and bookings. 🚢

Ever wonder why so many people are choosing to cruise?

I think part of it is pretty simple.

You get onboard, unpack your suitcase, and for the next few days your hotel goes with you. Your meals, entertainment and plenty of things to do are right there. And tomorrow morning, you can wake up somewhere completely different.

You can explore a new destination, see a show, hang out by the pool, have a great dinner—or decide you're perfectly happy sitting somewhere watching the ocean go by.

Cruising isn't completely all-inclusive, and every cruise line and ship offers something a little different. Finding the right cruise matters.

But maybe there's a reason more and more people are giving cruising a try.

Worried about rain on your Walt Disney World vacation? ☔🏰

I get it. You spend a lot of money on a Disney trip, you’ve been looking forward to it for months, and the last thing you want to see in the forecast is rain.

But some of our favorite Disney memories have happened on days when the weather didn’t cooperate.

One year, it rained—a LOT. And somehow that trip ended with us standing in a nearly empty Magic Kingdom, right in front of Cinderella Castle, watching Happily Ever After after the rain finally stopped.

You can’t control the weather at Disney. But with a little preparation (and maybe a Clark Griswold level of determination 😂), you don’t have to let it ruin your vacation.

Sometimes you just put on the poncho and go find the magic. ✨

I saw that line today and couldn't stop thinking about it.

I think there's a lot of truth there. How you approach a Disney vacation matters. But I also think Disney has created something pretty special that's already there waiting for you.

And maybe good planning is really about making sure you have enough room to experience it.

🏰 Don’t start with Disney. Start with your family.

Before you choose a resort, count park days, or start thinking about dining reservations, there’s a more important question:

What do you want this vacation to feel like for your family?

Maybe it’s your kids’ first visit. Maybe you’ve been dreaming about taking the grandkids. Maybe it’s the big family trip you’ve been saying you’ll take “someday.”

Your Disney vacation doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

Where should you stay at Walt Disney World? 🏰✨

With more than 20 Disney resorts to choose from, that question can get overwhelming pretty quickly!

If I had to pick one favorite for families at each price level, these would be three of mine:

🌺 Deluxe — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
🎨 Value — Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
⚜️ Moderate — Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

Three very different resorts and three very different Disney experiences.

The trick isn’t finding the “best” resort at Walt Disney World. It’s finding the best resort for your family and the kind of vacation you want to have.

So what does a Disney Travel Advisor actually do?

A lot of people think it just means booking your resort and park tickets. That's really only the beginning.

One of the biggest things I can do is become your resource. Instead of spending hours searching Facebook groups, Google and YouTube trying to figure out what applies to your family, you have someone you can ask.
