One thing that genuinely surprised me after moving to Bandera was just how many options there are for families to get outside and play.

And it’s not just your typical playground.

There’s a skate park, a disc golf course, playgrounds in several different spots around town, the playground behind Bandera library, the one across from Bandera City Park, equipment at City Park itself - and even a playground at the Lakehills Library.

The skate park and disc golf course especially stood out to me because I haven’t seen those kinds of amenities in many of the other small towns we’ve visited.

When you live here, you sometimes don’t realize how much is actually available.

What did I miss? Is there another Bandera-area spot families should know about?

We are excited to partner with Bandera General Store to get these kids reading!! 📚

Ice Cream prizes are available to the first 100 book reviews 🍦

🔍 This Friday, August 28: Historical Detective at Frontier Times Museum!

Part of the museum’s new Fridays at the Museum program, this week’s activity turns kids into history sleuths - examining real historic photos, documents, and artifacts to piece together clues about who they may have belonged to.

🕐 12:00–2:00 PM
📍 Frontier Times Museum
👨‍👩‍👧 Free & open to all students (not just Bandera ISD!) - one accompanying adult gets in free with each participating child.

A great way to get the kids out of the heat and into some hands-on history before the weekend.

See you there! 🤠
