Labor Day Weekend is upon us in Greater Bangor Region! ☀️🙌

How did the unofficial end of summer sneak up on us THIS fast?!

Before those long New England summer days slip away into crisp mornings and fall foliage, there’s still one more long weekend to soak it all in. And, there’s plenty happening around the GBR to help you make the most of it!

Get outside, catch a local event, spend some time with friends and family, and squeeze every last drop out of summer in Maine. 🌲☀️

There’s something bittersweet about the end of August in Maine. ☀️🍂

The days are still warm, but the evenings feel a little cooler. McLaughlin's Lobsters, Seafood, and Takeout and other seasonal favorites are starting to wind down, and every now and then, there’s a breeze that reminds you fall isn’t too far away.

Here in the Greater Bangor Region, we’re lucky to experience four distinct seasons-and there’s something to love about every one of them. But we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to summer just yet. 💚

There’s still time to grab one more ice cream cone. Take that hike you’ve been meaning to do. Spend an afternoon by the water. Wander the Bangor Waterfront or Brewer Riverwalk with nowhere in particular to be.

September can wait just a little longer.

Here’s to soaking up every last bit of August and sending summer out the right way. ☀️🌲

Looking for an easy way to get outside, meet your neighbors, and give back to the community? Join Bangor Beautiful for one of their upcoming monthly gardening parties!

These one-hour gatherings bring the community together to care for the green spaces and public art that help make Bangor a more vibrant, welcoming place. And don’t worry-you don’t need to be an experienced gardener to join in. Just show up ready to lend a hand! 🌿🧤

Right here in Bangor, Essex Woods offers more than 2 miles of interconnected trails winding through 70 acres of forest, wetlands, and rocky terrain- and it’s a great spot to explore on two wheels. 🌲

Whether you’re looking to squeeze in a quick ride after work or spend some time cruising through the woods on the weekend, Essex Woods makes it easy to get outside without going far.

The trail network includes a mix of gravel, packed dirt, forest floor, hills, and smaller bike paths branching off the main routes, so there’s plenty to explore each time you visit.

🚀 Ready for liftoff in the GBR? The Blast Off Bash is coming to the Cole Land Transportation Museum!

Join the Challenger Learning Center of Maine for TWO days of hands-on, rocket-powered fun. Participants will build their own model rocket, learn about the science behind flight, and then watch their creation soar hundreds of feet into the sky! 🌟

Choose a take-home kit to build ahead of time, or build your rocket on-site with help from Challenger’s STEM educators and volunteers.

📅 Saturday, August 22 | 9 AM-12 PM
📍 Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road, Bangor
🎟️ $15 per rocket kit/participant
