HEADS UP!

CBP is launching a NEW Trusted Traveler app.

Beginning September 15, the new app will replace BOTH the current Global Entry mobile app and the Trusted Traveler Programs mobile app.

So if you use Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST, pay attention!

The new app puts everything in one place, including:

• Managing your Trusted Traveler membership
• Checking your application or membership status
• Scheduling enrollment interviews
• Updating membership information
• Renewing your membership
• Global Entry mobile arrival processing when returning to the U.S. at participating airports

Already have Global Entry or another Trusted Traveler membership? You’ll use your existing login credentials, and your profile and membership information should transfer to the new app.

The important part: the OLD Global Entry and Trusted Traveler Programs apps will stop working September 15.

A shift I’ve noticed in this fall’s bookings: clients are choosing the culture first and the destination second.

Seeing the landmark is easy. Understanding what you are looking at is the part that changes the trip. A temple ceremony in Bali, a festival in Mexico, and a market or fortified village in Morocco each ask something different of the traveler. Timing, local context, etiquette, and the right guide turn a colorful stop into an experience that makes sense.

This is why cultural travel cannot be reduced to a list of famous places. I plan around what is happening, how clients want to participate, and how much time the destination deserves. Some days need a guide. Others need a free afternoon after the introduction.

One of the biggest shifts I’m seeing in luxury travel right now: two destinations, one trip.

Smart routing makes pairings possible that used to feel complicated. Three combinations I love right now:

Hawaii + Japan. The Pacific routing connects them naturally, so you can ease into the time change in Hawaii and land in Japan already adjusted.

New Zealand + Fiji. Fiji makes a natural stopover on the way there or back, turning one very long flight into two incredible destinations.

Amsterdam + Brussels. Under two hours apart by train, with completely different personalities. Canals and museums in one, chocolate, beer culture, and Art Nouveau in the other.

The trick is pacing and logistics, which is exactly what I handle. Tell me your dream pairing, and I’ll make it work.

A trend I fully support: skipping the winery day trip and just sleeping at the winery.

Villa Cordevigo is a 16th-century Venetian villa in the hills above Lake Garda's eastern shore, surrounded by 100 hectares of its own vineyards and olive groves. The estate grows, presses, and pours everything itself, so the wine at dinner and the olive oil at breakfast were made a short stroll from your room.

And this is no farmhouse. The villa has been in noble hands since the 1600s. Frescoed ceilings, a private chapel where counts once heard Mass, gardens laid out with Italian precision, and a pool that looks straight down the vine rows. Dinner is at Oseleta, where a Michelin-starred kitchen cooks from the harvest happening outside the door.

Advisor tip: Verona sits 30 minutes down the road, which puts the Roman Arena, Juliet's balcony, and Italy's best aperitivo hour within easy reach of any stay.

What does a travel advisor actually do all day? More than most people would guess.

Before your trip is ever booked, I’m comparing properties I’ve personally visited, weighing which room categories are actually worth it, and checking with my hotel contacts about what’s new.

Once you say yes, the real work starts. Securing the right rooms. Arranging transfers, guides, and reservations. Building a day-by-day flow that doesn’t exhaust you.

And while you travel, I’m still on. Watching flights, adjusting plans when weather shifts, and solving the small problems before you ever hear about them. Most of this happens behind the scenes. The result is a trip that just works.

Yes, I said it.

I love family travel. I plan family travel. I take my own kids all over the world. But parents are allowed to want a vacation that doesn’t involve keeping everyone fed, entertained, slathered in sunscreen, and emotionally regulated.

A trip with your children can be an amazing family experience. A trip without them can be an actual break. Both things can be true.

Did you know one of Africa's greatest safaris happens almost entirely on water?
