Leading up to the next knee surgery next week.
Has anyone ever had a nerve ablation especially in the knee? How did it go ?
Did it help ? Let me know all the things because I’ve never heard anything about it !

Garrett had knee surgery on the 4th which was oddly enough his 4th knee surgery. It was for a nerve block in his knee due to his permanent nerve damage from the work place injury.
His 5th knee surgery just by the grace of God got approved right before workers comp ends (since we no longer have commercial insurance he wouldn’t be able to get it had they not covered it) & it has already been scheduled for the 18th of August..
That’s going to be for an Ablation of the nerves in his knee. He lost feeling in his entire leg from right above the knee to his foot after the injury. That has never came back as they expected it would. So he got in with Neurology for a Nerve Conduction Study and they diagnosed him with permanent nerve damage. Hence these 2 surgery’s. Even with all of that, the knee is still not healed. The Ortho is still trying to figure out what else he can do to fix the knee but there’s not many options left that they haven’t yet done.
He will need a knee replacement at some point, but the Dr is trying his hardest to hold off on it being “he’s too young for a replacement” even though we’re both at the point of just saying 10 years between surgery’s is better than 3 months or in this months case 2 weeks..

That was supposed to be Sawyers ENT consult for her enlarged tonsils to see if they want to remove them now or wait til 3. So I have to reschedule it, but it’s not a big deal moving that vs his surgery that barely even got approved .

Anyways that’s the life update 💁🏽‍♀️
I told you it’s pure chaos in our lives, but we’re managing one day or should I say one surgery & Dr visit at a time! 😅

Incase anyone was wondering how bringing the co-pilots to Garrett’s surgery was…
Not pictured is :
-Sawyer throwing Garrett’s phone 5011 times
-Dakota falling into a bush on the way to the car to get Garrett, causing her to let go of Sawyer’s hand, then Sawyer proceeding to take off running back to the hospital.
-Sawyer running out the waiting room twice and me having to chase her down the hall.
-Them shredding napkins at the cafeteria
-And Dakota falling directly on Sawyers head and busting her lip.😐💀
-Honestly I’m forgetting half of it. But all I got to say is never again .. 🥴💀😂

Life has been utter chaos for us as usual. 😂
I’ve officially come to the realization that, just like in school having quarters, every 9 weeks something happens or goes wrong around here. I swear we can’t catch a break. 😅

Garrett has been dealing with severe nausea, pain where his non-existent kidney used to be and pain in his remaining kidney. His lightheaded episodes have also returned. For a few weeks now (he thought it’d go away). He’ll be seeing urology on Thursday to address the kidney pain and other symptoms, as well as his orthopedic doctor for his follow-up from his May surgery. On top of all that, he’s having another knee surgery next week. He was recently diagnosed with permanent nerve damage from his workplace injury, so this surgery will be to try to address the damaged nerves.

Sawyer was referred to ENT today because her tonsils are enlarged and just too big for her. She said they try to wait until 3 years old to take them out if they can but sometimes they’ll do it now depending on what they observe at ENT. We also attempted her Von Willebrand testing again, but both of her veins blew, and I wasn’t willing to put her through a third attempt. They weren’t able to get enough blood for the full testing—only enough for a CBC and manual differential which was to address her wonky white count from earlier this year. Her white count is back to normal. But some other labs were off. We’re waiting to hear back from her new doctor about those results.

And then there are the things I won’t post publicly that have rocked our world financially yet again. 🙃

So, yeah… life is life-ing over here. We’re tired, overwhelmed, and doing our best to keep putting one foot in front of the other. But we’re still here, still fighting, and still taking it one day at a time. Keep our family in your prayers❤️‍🩹

I’m a fixer. I find solutions, I make plans, I figure things out. But this? I can’t research my way out of it. I can’t plan my way around it. I can’t fix it. And when you’re a fixer, that kind of helplessness feels like torture.💔

Today was extremely validating when Garrett’s oncologist and patient navigator came up with and agreed I should’ve been a doctor, private investigator, FBI agent, etc. They even said I missed my calling! 😂

Apparently knowing your husband’s gene down to the exact genetic coding, bringing research and resources, and showing up with full family tree charts I made WITH A KEY is not considered “normal.”

& They also made sure to remind me that Garrett is pretty damn lucky to have me in his corner. 😂🤪 And honestly… I can’t argue with that one. 🤪🤷🏼‍♀️🫶🏻

Might I add this was my appointment with the dr and we talked about Garrett 99.9% of the time.. 😂

Glad my obsessive research finally got some professional recognition. 🫡🤪🫶🏻

It might be hospital rooms.
Bad news.
Long nights.
Financial stress.

Watching the person you love become someone who needs you in ways you never imagined.
