The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is urging visitors not to move or build with rocks in rivers and streams after an Eastern Hellbender Salamander was found crushed.
According to the GSMNP, eastern hellbenders lay between 100 to 300 eggs beneath the rocks. If those are crushed by people stacking and building with rocks, "entire generations can be lost in an instant."
