Only 30 minutes from here is Crab Orchard Falls near Valle Crucis. It's a 1.3-mile moderate hike and takes about 45 minutes.

Here is a recent 5-star review: "Very comfortable 4 bedrooms with 3 full baths, large main area was great for game night and sports. Rear deck was enormous! Easy to find and get inside. Felt right at home. Spotless furniture and linens, pristine kitchen. Owner was proactive, helpful and friendly. Beautiful surroundings, great restaurants and lots to do."

Reflecting on a wonderful weekend as we descend back to reality - we unwound in the cool mountain air, spent time with family, met our sweet great niece Riley, devoured a meal at our favorite Mexican restaurant Puerto Nuevo in Banner Elk and hiked a nice new trail - Owl Prowl.
