Today's ride was just under 60 miles from our house to Napa. I went with Tom, a new friend who I met through the Bay Trail Confidential show. I introduced him to some scenic locations along the Bay at Pinole Shores and American Canyon. But he took me on a route along the Vallejo waterfront I hadn't been familiar with. It's great to ride with others who share my passion for exploring our beautiful region.

I've been fortunate so far to enjoy good air quality and very moderate temperatures. Things may warm a bit later in the week, and it will be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow. When I rode across the US in 1992, I routinely covered 80-100 miles a day with around 50 lbs. of gear on my bike. Oh to be 29 again!

Caltrans is conducting a survey on use of the bike/ped access to the Richmond San Rafael bridge. I'm hoping you can take ~7 mins. to fill this out. Our future access may depend on this: http://bit.ly/RSR-Survey

Here's more info:
Caltrans, in partnership with the Bay Area Toll Authority and U.C. Berkeley’s California Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH) program, this week released a survey to gather information about people’s experiences using the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge path, as well as new improvements to the I-580 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. overcrossing in Marin County. This will help inform pilot studies associated with these two facilities.

The online survey is now available and will remain open for at least the next three weeks. We want to hear from people who use the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge path and/or the Sir Francis Drake bikeway, as well as those who haven’t but may be interested. Members of the public are encouraged to share the survey link with friends and family. Participants can expect the survey to take about eight minutes to complete.
