Today was a bus day. The Rhine River is currently 2 inches deep in Rhine Gorge area so it’s impassable at this time. Five heat waves and no rain will do that!! So we packed our things and took a bus to Luxembourg and got walk around before getting back on the bus to come to Antwerp, Belgium and do something different to get to Amsterdam. It’s been 30 years since I have last been to Luxembourg and it is beautiful still. Such fascinating history here!
Can’t wait to try Belgium tomorrow!!!

Where did you go today? I traveled from Alsace, France to Luxembourg city, Luxembourg and now I’m in Antwerp, Belgium..

Breisach Germany and Colmar France- a tale of two countries intertwined with Switzerland.

Today we ported in Breisach Germany and went to Colmar France. Yes, one side of the river is Germany and the other side is France. Colmar is the home of Frederic Bartholdi who was the artist for the Statue of Liberty. Lots of beautiful half timbered buildings and the Venice of France.

Bye Switzerland! Now I’m on my second adventure- another river cruise!! But now I will be on the Rhine- well, at least the parts that still have water.. I’m in Germany now but soon will be back in France…
Our first of 10 locks that we will be going through on this trip. So cool!! This one had us going down and it was two ships in the lock.

Sometimes you pivot when it’s too hot to go out in the daytime.. Basel at night is just as beautiful and we weren’t the only ones out and about.

It was a hot one today!! So we pivoted and stayed in until after 10 pm tonight before we went out and about in Basel. So many families and people out and about. We came across a concert and an outside movie theater.
It’s 1130 pm and 80 degrees.. cooler weather is coming but what is really needed here is rain.
Tomorrow we head to our next river cruise which I will dub the somewhat Rhine River cruise! We have a deviation due to the Rhine being so critically low. Follow along to see where I’m going…
