I had this great guy in the boat yesterday. Caught lots of fish and got to talk all about the pains that each of our evinrude motors give us on our boats. Sadly, i was informed this morning that he passed away. He caught this 27" walleye real late in the day. I can't remember for sure, but it may have been the last fish he caught. Regardless, we'll say it was and im glad he could end it on a big one. Rest in peace Gary!

If you've fished with me before, you know i won't put a walleye in my livewell over 24". Let them go so they can grow. If you want to kill big fish, go to Mac where the lake can handle it. I would hope most others do the same. That is all

Walleyes threw a curveball this year and fired up about a month early. Now that the holiday has gone by and the fish are getting a bit more tricky, here's a photo bomb of some of the fish we've netted over the last few weeks. Dates are pretty filled through the first half of June but I still have June 12th, 14th, 18th and the 21st -24th open. The easy wiper bite should start towards the end of June and get better through August, and if this summer goes anything like last year, the walleye fishing should be great too.

I've been up here in the Scottsbluff area guiding turkey hunts for Heartland Pride Outfitters. Turkeys everywhere, lodging's great, and the food is even better. Beautiful country out here. Highly recommend the place. If I'm not too fat from these big meals they're feeding us to get in the boat, it'll be right back to fishing when i return home. I still have dates open in May, June, and throughout the summer, so shoot me a message. So far, the temps have been great, and if they hold, I'd expect the fishing to fire up right on schedule. Maybe even a little early 👀

My buddy heater wasn't in my ice shack when we resurfaced it from the bottom of the lake over a month ago. Every time I headed out to fish since the incident, I thought about the poor guy just lying there, rusting up. Thinking about all the jalapeño cheddar sausages and deer backstrap burritos I'd cooked on top of it when the fish weren't biting, making smoke pour out the doors of my shack like a kitchen fire at Famous Dave's BBQ, and how it was now just lying with the nasty catfish in the mud, never to see light again. Leave no man behind I say. Give it time, I'll have it putting out heat again.🤙

It was dark, so phone was in night mode with no video, but last night on the dam, these fish gobbling pelicans had some crazy tactics going on. They were working their way down the bank in a tight half circle formation. Every 15 feet or so they'd turn their circle in towards the bank and dip there heads down to the bottom at the exact same time. I could only assume any spawning walleye inside that net of pelicans would spook and try to dart out into deeper water, right into their open mouths. Crafty critters they are
