Today marks six years since Justice passed away. Six years ago today was the darkest day for our family, and life has never been the same since. There is a clear before and after Justice died. We are different now. Losing Justice changed us. I have always said that death is a teacher and through Justice’s passing we have learned deeply about love, loss, tomorrow is not a promise, and slowing down to notice the signs from the universe.
Anniversary days are hard. They are filled with memories, reminders of loss, and an ache that never fully leaves. This year I wanted to create something meaningful from that sadness. Something that invites connection, reflection, and love.
Welcome to Love Notes at Justice’s Journal House.
Nestled at Justice’s Lights on the Bell Street Bridge, this little journal house is a place where visitors can leave messages straight from the heart. Write a note to Justice, to a loved one you miss, a prayer, a poem, a memory, or simply share how the lights made you feel that evening.
You are also invited to read the words left by others. Within these pages you may find comfort, hope, healing, or simply a reminder that you are not alone.
Through my travels I have come across similar journal houses and community mailboxes and I knew I wanted to bring that same experience to the Bell Street Bridge, a place where people can sit by the Yellowstone River, reflect, write, read, and leave a piece of their heart behind.
Over time these journals will become a living collection of memories, stories, reflections, and moments in time, a reminder that love continues long after someone is gone.
On a day often marked by overwhelming sadness, it feels fitting to create something that will continue spreading love, hope, and connection for years to come.
