The geometric garden area surrounded by hornbeam hedges is dominated by a large pool with the gilt fountain group "Flora and putti". The fountain, operated solely through the pressure of the natural gradient, can rise up to 22 m into the air.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Day 2 is what I will call "castle day". We left Munich today to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Lindehof Castle and a shopping stop in Oberammergau. The opulence in both castles was astounding! King Ludwig II of Bavaria liked nice things. He became King at age 18, never married and lived alone in his castles. He was known as the Swan King or the Fairy Tale King. Building castles was his mission until he died at age 40 of mysterious circumstances unknown to the public. Lots of rumors swirled around which our tour guide shared with us.

We weren't allowed to take photos inside the castles. Highly recommend if you are in the area to visit these grand palaces.

Part 2 Day 1 For lunch, we knew we wanted Schnitzel, so we found a cute outdoor restaurant with several delicious options. We continued on with the HopOn HopOff bus after lunch. Then went back to the hotel and were able to get into our room.. we took a 2 hr nap and then rushed to the Marienplatz to see the Glockinspiel which goes off at 11am, 12pm and 5pm. We made it and enjoyed the show! For dinner, we went to the original Hofbrauhaus which is a 3 story beer hall dating back to the 16th century. We enjoyed another fine German meal and live music. Seating is open and we enjoyed dining outdoors in the garden seating. The end of our first full day in Munich!
