I am also the Mom of 5 children and wife of Travis. They are the magic in my mind. They are the ones who bring meaning to life. My goal during your session is to capture the real you. I challenge myself to seek out real emotion through your session and then edit to that emotion. You guys! Something has been on my mind and sitting in my heart and the pit of my stomach over this past year. I have been shooting a lot of families. I have loved every single second of the time I have been with you! I want to post them all and every time I go to do it, I can’t if there is little kids. There has been more and more predators or out there willing to take the faces of children and turning it into explicit content using AI. The very time I go to post one of the sweet little families I got to beautifully capture, I can’t. Because I love you so much it scares me to think what if I had someone on my page and I didn’t protect the young people better. So I don’t post. I want to. But my stomach gets sick and I just can’t. I know how much each of you would do anything to protect your kids and I want to be on board with that too! So I will post but I am probably going to blur the kids’ faces out on the post. It might look funny but that’s ok! I’d rather have a blurry face on a person than a face be stolen. It’s so weird can’t just enjoy with out worry but it’s what we are dealing with now. I love you all deeply!

I just got out of a meeting with our local educators talking about the industry of digital arts and photography and how we help students have a future the digital industry. One thing kept coming to my mind is HUMAN. Connecting with other humans. Telling their stories. Being with others and connecting. The talk in the meeting was the worry about AI taking over and how do we help them understand AI. But it doesn’t start with AI it starts with connection and experience!
I wish so badly I could take each student and teach them how to first love other people and want to capture their heart, their love, their soul and help the client feel like a million bucks and beautiful and strong and perfect the way they are. AI can not do that for us. It cannot help us feel seen on a human level. It’s can’t read our heart, it can’t know what brings joy or sadness. It can’t tell the story. It can only speed up our processing. It can only modernize the outcome of a photo. It’s starts with photographer and client connection. That’s it. If you’re a student. Start there. Learn to watch. Learn to love. Learn to use light. Read light place light. Learn the art to connect with someone else. Then you shoot.
