Today, I’m remembering.

A few years ago, I had the privilege of visiting Normandy with Josh and my mother-in-law. It was one of the most impactful experiences of my life. At the time, I had been living abroad for over a year, and seeing so many American flags felt like an unexpected and beautiful taste of home.

That day didn’t go as planned—we were hours behind schedule. But because of that delay, we arrived at the American Cemetery just as Taps began to play. We hadn’t known it would happen at that moment. After barely holding it together through the museum, hearing those solemn notes echo across the graves completely broke me open. I cried openly for the first time in years. It was so beautiful and so sad.

On this Memorial Day, I’m holding space for the profound gratitude and sorrow I felt in that moment, and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember. We honor.

✨ Whenever I’m feeling old, stuck, or down, I like to type today’s date into my Google Photos and see what pops up. It’s such a good reminder of how much life I’ve packed into these years and how blessed I am to be alive.

On this exact day in years past, I was:
🚢 Departing Seattle for an Alaska cruise (2023)
💉 Watching Josh give shots to the cat we were caring for in Andalusia, Spain (2019)
🦘 Hiking with kangaroos in Melbourne, Australia (2018)
⛳️ Golfing (2017)

Not bad for a random May 20th. ❤️ Try it sometime—you might surprise yourself!

AmaWaterways is such a cool river cruising company. And now, adding to their Danube Golf Cruises, they are adding golf trips on the Seine. YES!!!!!

Prices aren't too bad either with the additional golf program cost starting at only $2,699 for 4 rounds of golf.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day to the incredible women who raised me, loved me, and taught me to see the world with wonder. So grateful to have shared this beautiful moment in Florence with my mom and my mother-in-law (two of the strongest, funniest, and most inspiring women I know.)

🌴 Days 14–17 – Puerto Vallarta + Farewell Fun

Puerto Vallarta delivered big: upside-down pole spinners, incredible chilaquiles and margaritas at Bar Oceano, and up-close views of magnificent frigatebirds.

Back onboard, it was 80s Night with themed trivia, dancing on deck, and so much neon. We wrapped the last sea days with wine tasting (note: Josh and I still can’t name flavors, but we’re very confident about noting the “2-week-old cat urine on a tweed couch” smell 😂), formal night toasts, progressive trivia finals, and goodbye hugs with our favorite crew.

🌞 Days 12–13 – Huatulco + Sea Day Fun

Huatulco, Mexico, was a gem! We wandered straight off the port into town, grabbed tacos and margaritas by the beach, and melted in the heat. I really liked how close everything was and only wished I had a little bit more heat tolerance to enjoy it all.

Thankfully, when one is on vacation, one does as they wish. So, I spent most of the rest of the day cooling off in the pool.

Sea day highlights: tons of trivia, Josh crushing the Yes/No challenge (well… almost 😆), and me winning Karaoke Wars!

🌊 Days 10–11 – At Sea: Dress to Impress + Elite Events

We hit peak glam with “dress to impress” night onboard! Josh and I received an invite to the Captain’s cocktail party for elite members. We had a great time learning more about the ship and the captain along with the announcement of the Most Traveled winner. The top 3 winners all had over 100 cruises with Princess that included over 1000 days onboard!!!

We spent our sea days relaxing, painting, and enjoying the onboard activities like afternoon tea, comedy shows, and music bingo (chaotic but so fun!). I also learned the hard way: if you want specialty dining like Steamers or Planks, book EARLY — they were full for the rest of the cruise.
