What a blessing - please continue to pray for Peter and all seminarians.
✨Sunday Spotlight: Our Seminarians✨
From the Office of Vocations
Through prayer, study, and formation, our seminarians are preparing to serve Christ and His people. Each Sunday, we invite you to get to know them - and to support them with your prayers.
👉Now meet Peter Sartorius!
Peter shares a deep devotion to St. Joseph, his confirmation saint, who has remained a faithful companion in his spiritual life. He also looks to St. John the Beloved as an example of closeness to the heart of Jesus. Through Scripture, especially the story of Jesus calming the storm (Mark 4:35–41), Peter has felt the Lord inviting him to grow in trust. He has also been inspired by the writings of Pope Benedict XVI, whose clarity has helped him better understand the richness of the faith.
Peter first began considering the priesthood as a young altar server, experiencing both a desire for the vocation and a fear of commitment. Over time, his discernment has been shaped by taking small leaps of faith and learning to trust that God will provide. He encourages others not to discern alone, but to share the journey with trusted mentors and companions. He especially values Night Prayer as a time to entrust himself to the Lord, and one of the most meaningful moments of the Mass for him is the prayer before Communion: “Lord, I am not worthy… but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.”
A few fun facts about Peter: he enjoys hearty meals like chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, listens to folk country music (including artists like Turnpike Troubadours), and has been re-reading The Lord of the Rings. He also enjoys team sports at the seminary, especially flicker ball - a fast-paced game that relies on strong teamwork and coordination.
✝️Join us in praying for Peter and for all those discerning God’s call in our diocese.
