Texas Your Ship Is On Its Way
Texas cruisers — this one is for you and it is a big deal. 🤠🚢
Carnival Cruise Line has officially announced that Carnival Tropicale — the fifth Excel-class ship in the fleet — will homeport from Galveston, Texas when she debuts in 2028.
Here is everything you need to know:
🚢 Carnival Tropicale is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and will carry up to 6,600 guests making her one of the largest cruise ships ever to homeport in Texas
⭐ She will sport the Star of Texas on her bow — an emblem first debuted on Carnival Jubilee honoring Carnival's deep commitment to the Lone Star State
💦 Carnival Tropicale will be the first ship to feature the brand new Sunsation Point zone — home of the multi-level Carnival WaterWorks Ultra waterpark experience
🎉 This will bring TWO Excel-class ships to Galveston simultaneously — Carnival Jubilee is already homeported there with no plans to change
📅 Both ships will sail from Galveston year-round — itinerary details have not yet been released but Western Caribbean and Bahamas voyages are expected similar to Carnival Jubilee's current schedule
🗓️ Bookings are expected to open later in 2026
Carnival has been sailing from Galveston since 2000 and currently homeports four ships there. Carnival Tropicale represents the cruise line's biggest investment in Texas yet.
