Had a great day throwing artificial baits for flounder. We boated 7 and kept 4. The ole fake shrimp put in work. I’d like to thank my good friend Oliver who built me the jiggin rod that got it done. Got buttoned up with a few trout as well🍀

Started the day catching 20 or so Redfish on an every cast kind of bite. Although we had a blast catching them we only plucked out a few keepers. Lost a few good ones and dealt with a good bit of bait thieves. In the bottom of the 9th we boated two flounder but only one took the ride home🍀

Sometimes lightening strikes twice! Hank and I had an incredible trip a month ago so he came back out for some more flounder gigging. Not sure if he keeps a rabbit foot on his keychain cause we had another banner night. As always we let the smaller fish grow and harvested the bigger fish🍀

Taking it way back to the pioneering days of flounder gigging in this picture. Picture was taken in St. Augustine 1948 of a man and his wife wade gigging while he dragged his boat “Backlash” behind them. We’ve come a long way from lanterns and wooden gigs but we can never forget our roots🍀

Very rarely do I get out the boat while flounder gigging but on this night it had to be done. The fish was so shallow we couldn’t reach him in the boat. Fortunately the fish was staged up on firm bottom and we got the job done safely🍀
