Signs of spring. Oyster mushrooms found on some poplar stumps. So yummy! Hopefully some Morels soon. They are the real prize. Sadly, our entire shiitake yard was washed away with Helene.

The bees have been hard at work. So far, they are looking good. They are loving the purple dead nettle.

Michael had a great idea for drying some garlic. The kennel on the right holds approximately 250 heads. The basement has a dehumidifier and we have a fan blowing over the area to circulate the air. Pretty awesome. Need 2 or 3 more kennels and space and we are good to go. 😉 We trim all the roots off upon harvesting, because we feel like they are a vector for moisture.

One example of what to do with garlic scapes. Cut them into green bean lengths and sauté in butter, salt and pepper. We like to cook them till they are almost crispy. Added some fresh snap peas towards the end. Yummy!
Probably the last of the scapes this Saturday.

Garden visitor in the freshly planted onion row. Hopefully he’ll dispose of some of the meadow voles we are plagued with. 😏
