I'm getting really excited for our next free History Presentation! On March 10 at 6 PM, author William Murphy will talk about the Native American trails network in Michigan! A presentation I've been hoping to have for a few years now!

Murphy is the author of "Not For God and Country" and "Jacob's Journey" and a self-professed History Nerd (so a man after my own heart!). Please like and share to help spread the word about our next free presentation!

Thank you for the guesses on our trivia question, but it looks like no one got this one. The first season pass was purchased by the mayor at the time, Ivar Wedin.

A big fan of the arts, Ivar owned WITW, worked with symphonies, and wrote and played his own music as well.

Here is a picture of him buying the first pass from the Manton Tribune newspaper in 1964.

Footliters

Let’s do a community trivia question that I just learned the answer to!

Who bought the very first season pass to the Footliters?

A few hints:

1. Footliters started in 1964.

2. The person was mentioned in my last presentation, but I found this fact out too late to mention it.

3. He liked the arts but especially “beautiful music.”

This is the oldest program from the Women's Club and dates to their second year (1894 - 1895). At this early stage they were called the Penelopean Club after the character Penelope from the Odyssey, who was a faithful and creative character.

Does anyone else think it is interesting that I post some videos of First Night from 25 years ago and the Cadillac Evening News did a story about it? Hmmmm.... thank you Chris for always digging up history.

Remember the picture recently of the Presidents of the Cadillac Women's Club and my disappointment that no one writes down names of photos. Well.... take a look at this one!

Featured in the Cadillac Evening News, Nov 4, 1916, is this awesome picture of Cadillac merchants posing in front of the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce office, which was at that point in the McKinnon building.

NO NAMES!!!! Not a single one! I would love to see a clearer copy of this picture too to start trying to ID some people. I believe the man right beneath the word "Chamber" with the bowler hat and the magnificent mustache is Charles Drury, who built the Drury Block.

I have been very blessed with some incredibly kind friends. Especially when it comes to history items connected to the theater. This is one of a dozen advertising playbills that a long time customer got out of a wall while doing a remodel and brought in, “because I know someone who would appreciate these.” And boy was he right. I treasure these and finally was able to get some frames for them for Christmas.

I thought the one with the 1966 Batman movie was especially appropriate as that was the lineup for Christmas 1966 for the Lyric.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.g
