Dangerous conditions are expected across the Great Lakes today! 🌊

Strong winds will whip up massive waves, with Lake Michigan seeing waves of 18–23 feet and occasional waves nearing 30 feet offshore. Lake Superior could see waves up to 25 feet, while Lake Huron may experience waves reaching 23 feet.

Stay safe and use extreme caution near the lakeshore! ⚠️

You’ve probably seen black squirrels before, but have you ever seen a black fox? πŸ¦ŠπŸ–€

While black squirrels are the most common example of melanism (a genetic condition that causes extra dark pigmentation), the Michigan DNR recently shared photos of an β€œincredibly rare” melanistic gray fox.

In fact, it’s currently the only known example in the entire Midwest!

🚁 Michigan State Police has deployed one of their helicopters to help battle two major wildfires in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula: the Ridge Fire northwest of Marquette and the Craig Lake Fire in Baraga County.

With both fires burning in rugged, remote terrain that’s difficult for ground crews to access, aerial support is critical. The MSP helicopter is dropping water on the fires using a specialized bucket system, working alongside Michigan DNR crews and two Fire Boss water-scooping aircraft from Minnesota. πŸ”₯🌲

A massive team effort to protect Michigan’s forests, wildlife, and communities. ❀️

The iconic Porcupine Mountains entrance sign was stolen sometime between October 3rd and 4th, and we’re asking for the community’s help getting it back.

🚨 Michigan diesel prices have hit a new record high.

The average price of diesel in Michigan has reached an average ofΒ $6.25 per gallon, surpassing the state’s previous record set during the 2022 price spike.
At the time, diesel prices peaked betweenΒ $5.82 and $5.96 per gallon.

Now, Michigan drivers and businesses are facing an even higher cost at the pump.Β An average of $6.25 per gallon is a new record.
