We were honored to welcome Outdoors Delmarva aboard the Lois Ann and share a glimpse of our Waterman’s Way experience—from running the trotline to dipping crabs and learning a little about the heritage behind it all.

As athletes take on IRONMAN Maryland right here in Cambridge, they’re experiencing one of the places we’re proud to call home—and the same waters we have the privilege of sharing with our guests aboard the Lois Ann.

There’s something special about learning the Chesapeake from someone who’s spent a lifetime on it.

Meet Captain Steve.

Steve’s connection to these waters began at just 11 years old, and by 14, he had his own boat. What started as a childhood passion quickly became a lifelong pursuit. After college, he returned to the water full-time, and for years he’s guided anglers, explored these creeks, and shared the traditions that make Maryland’s Eastern Shore so unique.

Today, he brings that same passion aboard the Lois Ann.

Whether he’s telling the story behind a historic harbor, pointing out local wildlife, or sharing memories passed down through generations of watermen, Captain Steve reminds us that the Chesapeake isn’t just a place—it’s a way of life.
