Here’s our September box, from Italy, with love.
--
Italian cuisine continues to influence food cultures around the world and is known for its simplicity and focus on fresh quality ingredients. Dishes vary by region with some regions being influenced by bordering countries such as France and Austria.
--
Italians see food as not just nourishment, but as an opportunity for gathering and catching up with friends and family. Hence, Italian meals tend to be longer and can have as many as 5 courses.
--
Some of the foods Americans view as Italian, like pizza and spaghetti, are mostly found in Central Italy. In Northern Italy though, pork, potatoes, fish, and cheeses are very common, while in the South of Italy many meals are tomato based with other ingredients including olives, artichokes, eggplant, and garlic.

If you have plans to travel to Italy, our Food Travel Experts highly recommend Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, for its architecture and art as well as its proximity to the rest of Tuscany and its matchless cuisine and feasts during the Autumn.
--
For other times of the year venture to Rome for the Colosseum and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, or the Amalfi Coast for the slow and winding roads and seaside holiday that may even include a boat ride along the coast.
