Five years ago, the Carlsbad Desalination Plant began its operations. Fast forward to today and the plant has produced an astounding 65 BILLION gallons of fresh, clean drinking water for the San Diego region.

Check out this Times of San Diego article on how is doing its part to support statewide efforts to conserve electricity and prevent rolling blackouts this week! The plant’s cutting-edge technology and local control allow for operational flexibility in response to local needs, another reminder of what a valuable asset the plant is for our region!

The San Diego County Water Authority said production has been cut back at the Carlsbad Desalination plant to conserve electricity amid the heat wave.
