Thank you to for coming to speak with our sophomores and juniors this week in at .ccsd 🎉

Coach Joe White spoke about the power of positive leadership and the impact we can have on others through the way we lead. 🍍

One of the most meaningful moments of the presentation was an activity where students wrote “I Am” statements about themselves and then shared affirmations and observations about one another. Many of the responses were met with reactions like, “I didn’t know I did that for you,” or “I didn’t know people saw me that way.” It was such a powerful reminder of the impact they have on the people around them.

In a world where so many high school friendships can become centered around screens and digital connection, this experience reminded students of the importance of real-life community, encouragement, and authentic friendship. Building strong relationships and a supportive community is such an important part of our program, and Coach White’s presentation beautifully reinforced that for our students.

We are so grateful for industry partners and leaders like Coach White who continue to pour into our students. Our students are hungry to learn, grow, and lead well, and having incredible role models willing to invest their time and wisdom into them makes all the difference. 💛

Coach White was one of Mrs. Dunleavys high school teachers when she attended and then they were coworkers when she got her first teaching job there in 2008! They have stayed connected since then and their relationship continues to positively impact high school students 💕

Today our ProStart 2 students at completed their Dessert Final Practicum, showcasing creativity, precision, and the foundational pastry skills they’ve built throughout the semester. From plating and presentation to technique and timing, students demonstrated the hard work and growth they’ve achieved in the kitchen.

A huge thank you to from and and Garrett Richman, Executive Pastry Chef for , for volunteering their time to judge and provide meaningful industry feedback to our students.

We also love seeing the full-circle moments in our program. Kyle was part of Mrs. Dunleavy’s 2018 ProStart Culinary Competition Team from and now serves on the Hospitality Pathway Advisory Board — giving back to the next generation of hospitality professionals. He was also in Chef Rice’s class at 🍍

Such a SWEET day!!

So grateful to welcome , founder of , to speak with our Resort & Event Management students and Hospitality Leadership interns from

Cari shared her incredible entrepreneurship journey—from:
pastor ➡️ speaker ➡️ author ➡️ consultant ➡️ mentor ➡️ small business owner & event specialist.

Her story is a powerful reminder that careers aren’t always linear… they’re built on passion, purpose, and people.

Having known Mrs. Dunleavy for over 25 years, Cari truly lives and breathes hospitality—and it showed in every moment with our students.

Students didn’t just listen… they created. During her session, they designed their own event while thinking beyond logistics and focusing on intentional hospitality—how guests feel, connect, and experience each moment.

Even more impactful, Cari extended real-world opportunities for students to get involved in upcoming events, support her social media, and receive mentorship from her 👏

This is what authentic, heart-led leadership looks like in action. Thank you, Cari, for pouring into our students and helping them see what’s possible! 💛 You were adored.

Very proud of the team earning 2nd place in our first year competing at the 11th annual Young Escoffier Competition in Boulder!

The students prepared Sole Walewska with sautéed asparagus and rice pilaf—this competition is unique because all teams prepare the same dish, so the judging is based on their culinary technique, teamwork, sanitation, communication, and overall dish presentation/ flavor.

We were also proud to have a second team represent CCIC and step into the competition with confidence and professionalism. Both teams, from Mrs. Dunleavy’s ProStart 1/2 classes rose to the challenge and represented the .ccsd at a high level.

Way to represent CCIC AND CCSD- so proud of you all! 👏🍽️🔥

…and more!

This incredible opportunity allows students to see hospitality leadership in action while building valuable industry knowledge and professional connections. 👏

A huge thank you to the Hyatt Regency DTC team and their leadership for making this experience possible — and a special shoutout to CCIC alumni student Jonathan Leon Alfaro for helping coordinate and support this amazing partnership! 🙌
