Do you know the difference between a passport book and a passport card? The U.S. passport book is the only document approved for international AIR travel. The passport card costs less, but can only be used at U.S. land and sea border crossings. Both can be used as a Real ID for domestic travel. You can apply for a passport book and card on the same passport application. Learn more at travel.state.gov/passport

If your U.S. passport is lost or stolen while you’re overseas, our consular teams around the world can help. Here’s what to do:
1️⃣ Stay calm. Our teams can help get you an emergency passport in order to return to the United States.
2️⃣ Contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for help. Visit the U.S. Embassy website for the country you’re in to find their emergency contact info and/or their process for replacing a lost or stolen passport. You can also find this contact info at travel.state.gov/destination.
3️⃣ Apply for your emergency passport in person. Follow the instructions provided by the Embassy or Consulate regarding walk-in hours or scheduling an appointment as well as what to bring.
4️⃣ Apply for a full validity passport when you’re back in the United States. If you apply for the full-validity replacement passport within one year of the emergency passport being issued, it will be exchanged without any additional fees. Learn more at travel.state.gov/ReplaceLimitedPassport

As a result, Spirit Airlines Customer Service is no longer available, and no assistance can be provided through their channels.

Travelers with existing bookings are encouraged to make alternate travel arrangements immediately by contacting other airlines servicing your destination. Please note that all alternative carriers will apply their own policies and fares when accommodating affected passengers.

Today is a sad day!!

BREAKING: Spirit Airlines says that it has "started an orderly wind-down of our operations, effective immediately," following talks between the airline and the federal government over a $500 million rescue deal.

Its final flight traveled from Detroit to Dallas and landed early Saturday morning.

The airline said it flew more than 50,000 passengers over the past day and was working to get more than 1,300 crew safely home.
