Accessible only by hiking one of several trails, it offers a rustic and peaceful retreat without electricity or modern amenities, relying on kerosene lamps and hearty family-style meals. Guests stay in cozy cabins and enjoy sweeping views, quiet evenings, and the chance to disconnect from everyday life. The lodge is supplied by llamas that carry goods up the mountain several times a week, adding to its unique charm and remote atmosphere.

✨ Just like in those historical romance novels we walked along the restored parapets at Siklós castle, Hungary.
The castle was built in the 13th century in the southern part of Hungary near Pécs. It was first mentioned in a charter from 1294. The oldest building is in the southern part of the residential wing. In 1401 disgruntled nobles temporarily imprisoned king Sigismund in the castle. Legend has it that a giant snake guarded the treasures in the basement. The castle was nationalized in 1948 and is open for visitors daily. ✨

We loved sitting in the clouds and watching them get caught in the mountains. The Smokey Mountains receive 85 inches a year of rain which mostly comes in the form of mist like this rainy day.

✨ Eunice Lake is a scenic alpine lake in Mount Rainier National Park, located below Tolmie Peak. It sits at about 5,358 feet and is known for its clear water and mountain views. Hikers reach it via a moderate 6–7 mile round trip from Mowich Lake. The lake was named after Eunice Sargent Roth by her husband, an early Forest Service member. In early summer, a nearby seasonal waterfall flows from the lake’s outlet.
