Amsterdam surprised us in the best way 🇳🇱

We didn’t know what to expect visiting for the first time with a toddler, but it ended up being incredibly family friendly. Beautiful parks, easy public transportation, and so much to explore.

It is also a maze of bikes, trams, boats, and people, which took a little getting used to 😅

We went to the zoo and soaked in the culture, but we also did a lot more playgrounds than museums. Travel with toddlers is definitely a different vibe, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

By the end of the trip, we became pros at public transportation. Kiah loved the “little trains” aka trams, plus the boats and trains.

My favorite part was hearing her tell us every night how much fun she had that day and why. Seeing a new place through her eyes is something else.

This trip was also a mix of work and play. Next time, we will stay longer and build in more free time so we can slow down and really settle into the rhythm of the city.

Because travel with kids may look different, but it’s also richer, more intentional, and full of moments you never expect. ✨

💔 My heart breaks for everyone involved in the tragic Lisbon accident. Jake and I were actually planning to be there next week, but our trip was rescheduled when he started his new job. It’s so heavy to think this could have been us.

Lisbon has always been a place I’ve dreamed of visiting, and to see such heartbreak in a city so full of history and beauty just feels surreal. Holding the victims, their families, and the Lisbon community in my prayers tonight. 🙏

✨ Travel With Kids: The Usual Options ✨

• Without a nanny → You do it all. Kids are with you 24/7, so bucket-list moments get skipped and you come home more tired than when you left.
• With a nanny → Gives you freedom, but it can be very expensive to bring someone along.
• Bring extended family → Built-in help, but now you’re juggling everyone’s schedules, budgets, and trip visions—it’s a lot.
• Wait until the kids are older → Years of putting off your own travel dreams.

🌍 The Cultured Compass Alternative
Our trips build childcare right in—trusted nannies, engaging kids’ activities, and shared family adventures. Parents finally get adult time and the kids make their own memories too. No compromises, no stress, just meaningful travel together.

✨ The Cultured Compass Origin Story: Why I Do What I Do

I started Cultured Compass because I’ve always loved travel. It lit me up, changed how I see the world, and planning trips became something I not only enjoyed—but was really good at. So I thought, why not help others plan their dream adventures too?

But over time, my mission has grown into something bigger than trip planning.

I kept hearing the same narrative: “You better travel now before you have kids.”
As if travel ends once you start a family.

I know that’s not true.

Children are curious, adaptable, and deeply impacted by the world around them. Travel can shape them in the best ways—nurturing empathy, resilience, wonder, and connection. I believe family travel isn’t something to survive—it’s something to embrace.

Yes, traveling with kids has its challenges. But with the right support, it’s not only possible—it can be joyful, meaningful, and unforgettable.

That’s why Cultured Compass exists:
To break down the barriers that keep families from exploring the world together.

I design family-friendly travel experiences that strike the balance—bucket-list destinations, immersive cultural moments, time to bond and breathe, and even built-in child care on select group tours. Because parents deserve to enjoy the journey too.

I also love helping couples—especially those just starting their adventures together—go beyond the usual honeymoon spots and explore bold, life-changing destinations before they start their families.

Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, teens, or no kids at all, Cultured Compass is here to help you see the world, connect deeply, and create lifelong memories—without sacrificing comfort, meaning, or your sanity.

Because travel isn’t just for the child-free.
It’s for families. For couples. For everyone who wants to live fully and see what’s out there.
