Yesterday was a full day of site inspections, and honestly, this is one of the most valuable parts of what I do.

We toured Hyatt Zilara Cancun, Hyatt Vivid Grand Island, and Riu Ventura. Walking the rooms, seeing the pools and beach areas, experiencing the service, and getting a true feel for who each resort is best suited for.

One thing you’ll never hear me do is wholeheartedly recommend a property I’ve never seen for myself. Photos and brochures only tell part of the story. Being here, asking questions, touring accommodations, and experiencing these resorts firsthand helps me make better recommendations for my clients.

A few properties surprised me, in the best possible way. A few confirmed exactly what I thought. And a few gave me a completely new perspective.

This week has been incredibly eye-opening, and I’m coming home with so much knowledge that will directly benefit my clients.

One of the biggest investments I make in my business isn’t advertising…it’s getting out and experiencing destinations firsthand.

Today I arrived in Cancun for a travel advisor FAM (familiarization) trip, where I’ll be touring multiple all-inclusive resorts, meeting with resort teams, learning the latest updates, and experiencing these properties for myself.

Why does this matter for my clients?

Because there are thousands of all-inclusive resorts in the Cancun area, and while they may look similar online, they are anything but. Every resort has its own personality, strengths, drawbacks, dining experience, beach quality, room types, atmosphere, and ideal traveler.

The resort that’s perfect for a honeymoon couple may be completely wrong for a family. The resort with the best beach may not have the best food. The adults-only luxury resort may not be the best value. These are things you can only truly understand by seeing them in person.

When I first started working with one of my couples on their adults-only getaway, having a swimmable beach was at the top of their wish list. 🌴

As we talked through what they really wanted from this trip ~ amazing food, relaxation, luxury accommodations, unique experiences, and a true adults-only atmosphere~ we realized there might be a better fit.

After comparing several options, we landed on Hotel Xcaret Arte, the adults-only side of the Xcaret resorts.

This trip wasn't about simply booking Belize. It was about solving a problem.

A mom traveling solo with her two teenage boys wanted something that checked all the boxes:

One day you’re packing swimsuits, Mickey ears, and autograph books for a Disney Cruise… and somehow, way too fast, you’re packing up a dorm room. 🥺

The years with our kids feel long sometimes, but looking back? They go by in a blink.

It’s the little things they’ll remember forever. The excitement of seeing their favorite characters, ice cream on the pool deck before dinner, staying up too late watching movies at sea, and those moments where everyone is together with nowhere else to be.

I think that’s why family vacations matter so much. Not because everything is perfect… but because for a little while, life slows down and you’re just together.

If you’ve been thinking about taking the trip, this is your sign. The dishes can wait. The laundry will still be there. But these versions of our kids won’t always be. 💙
