I really do want to be one of the aesthetic content girlies… but apparently my personality has other plans.

Also, does anybody else struggle with finding the balance between capturing the moment and actually living it? Because sometimes I put the phone down and forget to record a thing… but trust me, I’m having the time of my life.

Please tell me I’m not the only one. Are you a “record everything” traveler or a “forgot to take one picture” traveler? 👀

¡Todavía estoy en Perú y algunas cosas me sorprendieron!

1. THE WEATHER
I did my research, so I knew Peru had different climates, but actually experiencing it was still wild. One minute I was bundled up, the next I was taking my jacket off. I saw snow, mountains, desert, and penguins all in the same trip.

However, let me just say… the shorts could have stayed at home. 😂

Also, in my personal opinion, Peru is NOT heel friendly. Do what you feel is best, but I am almost certain that had I tried to wear heels, I would be recording this video from a hospital bed. 😂

2. THE FOOD
One thing about Peru, the food does not miss! Now, I am not a certified foodie, and I did stay far away from the guinea pig and alpaca 😂, but everything I actually tried was GOOD.

My favorite meal was hands down the ají de gallina. Shoutout to J. Slate for putting me on because I probably would have never ordered it otherwise!

3. THE PEOPLE
The people were honestly one of my favorite parts of Peru. Everyone I encountered was so warm, kind, and welcoming, and that started with my homestay experience. I cannot wait to tell y’all more about that because it ended up being one of the most special parts of my entire trip.

One of my favorite things about traveling is realizing just how much of the world exists outside of our daily routines, and Peru reminded me of that in the best way.

Which one would surprise you the most: the weather, the food, or the people? And if you’ve been to Peru, tell me what surprised YOU. 👇🏾

Soooo…hey y’all.

I looked up and realized I’ve been gone for a minute. Life has been busy, but I’ve been building.

For those who are new (or the people who forgot I exist), I’m Shannon…hey yall hey!

By day, I’m an 8th grade English teacher in Charlotte. Teaching is…complicated. But I genuinely love my students, and I’m really good at what I do.

Outside of the classroom, I own a travel company where I curate group trips, hosted experiences, and milestone celebrations around the world. Right now I’m planning client group trips to Curaçao (two groups), Costa Rica, Thailand, and Paris.

I don’t have kids, but I’m a proud auntie to two nieces and two nephews.

People usually think I’m quiet until they get to know me. My friends know I’m actually goofy, always laughing, and probably talking a little too much.

I’m also obsessed with live concerts. I have five coming up, and somehow three are in the same week 😬.

I’m currently spending three weeks in Peru on my first extended solo adventure. This trip has been eye opening for me. My business is still all about creating unforgettable group experiences, but I wanted to prove to myself that I didn’t have to wait on anyone to see the world.

One thing about me? I’m consistent in every area of my life…except social media 🙃.

We’re changing that….you shouldn’t believe me, but I queued up!!!!

If you’ve been here, thanks for sticking around. If you’re new, welcome. I hope you’ll laugh with me, travel with me, and enjoy the ride.

If you’ve made it this far, tell me one thing people would be surprised to learn about you it can be travel related or something general!

Juneteenth flashback because I have to.

We walked into a school in Ghana and got met by a room full of kids who looked like ours back home. No translator needed for the joy part. That part is universal.

Going home on Juneteenth wasn’t an accident. I planned it that way. Because freedom hits different when you’re standing on the same soil your ancestors were taken from, surrounded by kids who never had to leave.

That’s not a vacation. That’s a homecoming you book on purpose.

Club Jet-Lag 360 doesn’t just take you somewhere. We take you back to who you are.

✊🏾 Happy Juneteenth ✊🏾

Quick reminder.

Liking travel photos, travel captions, and travel conversations
Is very different from actually enjoying travel.

And that’s okay.

Because travel flows best when people want the same kind of experience.
Same pace. Same curiosity. Same level of flexibility.

Also… let’s be real.
Just because we get along socially doesn’t automatically mean we move well together on a trip.

No shade. Just awareness.

When you travel with people who are aligned, everything feels lighter.
More laughs. Less explaining. More memories.

If this sounds familiar, you already get it.
Tag your travel twin or share this with someone who would understand.
