Dear Travel Diary,

📍Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Day 6 started just like day 5 with enjoying a delicious breakfast while taking in the ocean view at Pico Bistro. The food was so fresh and flavorful and the outside view is what I wish for while having to work. I will share that street vendors do come up quite often while sitting trying to sell items like wooden bowls, jewelry, and t-shirts. We ended up buying DryFit long-sleeve shirts as they make for good sunburn shirts as we call them. .
Our server recommended some of his favorite beaches for us to visit, so that's exactly what we did for the day. Drove from Tamarindo to Flamingo Beach and then to Playa Grande. One reason we love renting a car is being able to enjoy the surrounding areas and our own adventures. Both beaches were completely empty and a good spot for family time disconnected from the world. Driving time is about 1.5 hours between the 3 spots..
The one thing to share about the ocean is that the currents were incredibly strong. We understood quickly why Tamarindo and the surrounding areas were amazing surfing spots. We saw tons of surfers and even had several surf shops offering lessons. But for going in and swimming around, be extra careful! .
If you know us then you know our love for sushi. We try it everywhere we go and Costa Rica did not disappoint. We went to a local outdoor restaurant and shared a family tray while munching on fried green beans. Seafood was fresh and I found many common rolls like Philadelphia (my favorite basic roll) on the menu. The service was relaxing and almost empty as this time in Costa Rica is considered off-season. .

Dear Travel Diary,

📍Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Day 5 we started at what quickly became our favorite restaurant, Pico Bistro located on the side of the road right in front of the ocean. Leylah enjoyed building her own breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, and fresh avocado while Matt went for the more traditional breakfast. He wants beans and rice every morning now. 🤭 I settled for chicken and pasta as I'm not the biggest breakfast fan. The pasta was hands down the most favorable pasta I have ever had. So buttery and garlicy 🤤 I’ll probably be dreaming about the pasta soon. 😂.
Leylah’s volleyball team was playing in a tournament so we stayed inside most of the afternoon to watch the game and cheer them on. She truly has found a passion in volleyball and couldn’t be prouder of her. 🏐❤️ Thankfully we had the cutest 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom Airbnb with a private pool. Made for the perfect relaxation spot with a good book..
For a late lunch, we visited the individuals selling chicken skewers right in front of the ocean right near Pico Bistro. We fell in love with chicken skewers while driving around the jungle in Puerto Rico. One of our traditions has become finding the local spot and buying a few sticks and glad we could continue that tradition in Costa Rica..
