Chris and I recently sailed on Star of the Seas, and I have to admit…it completely changed my opinion.
Like many people, I assumed that because it’s the biggest cruise ship in the world, it would feel crowded and be packed with kids everywhere. We enjoy a more relaxed, adult atmosphere, so I wasn’t sure this ship would be the right fit for us.
Then we boarded.
We learned there were more than 2,500 children onboard! 😳 I’ll admit, I immediately wondered if our concerns were about to become reality.
They weren’t.
From the moment we started exploring, we realized just how thoughtfully this ship was designed. Even with thousands of guests onboard, it never felt crowded. There were so many different neighborhoods, restaurants, lounges, pools, and entertainment venues that people naturally spread out.
What surprised us the most was how easy it was to find peaceful, adult-focused spaces. We spent time relaxing in the The Hideaway (Adults Only) with a gorgeous infinity pool and bar area, enjoyed new complimentary dining spots like The Pearl Cafe (24 hour), Aquadome Market with 5 unique food stands, Base Camp, Surfside Eatery, listening to live music, taking in the ocean views with a cocktail, and ending our evenings with incredible shows and a little time in the casino.
Speaking of the shows…they were hands down the best entertainment we’ve experienced on any cruise ship. Royal Caribbean truly raised the bar. Back to the Future is a MAJOR production show that was SO much fun for all ages. The Aqua Show Torque (new and improved), was mind-blowing and the Ice Arena show SOL was incredible.
Meanwhile, families were having an amazing time in Surfside, Category 6 Waterpark, and all of the family-friendly attractions like Crown’s Edge ropes course that guests can walk over the ocean! It never felt like one group was competing with the other—the ship was designed so everyone could enjoy the vacation they wanted.
By the end of the cruise, Chris and I both said the same thing: We’d sail Star of the Seas again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend anyone else to consider it!
