Discovering the Dolomites: Why Val Gardena Stole My Heart ✨🇮🇹

Just back from an unforgettable journey through the Dolomites, one of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring regions in all of Italy. What started as a grand plan to hike rifugio-to-rifugio quickly turned into a different kind of adventure when we realized most mountain huts are closed until mid to late June.

Instead, we based ourselves in Santa Cristina, a small village in Val Gardena surrounded by towering peaks, ringing church bells, waterfall views, and trails that practically beg you to lace up your boots. Even in the quiet off-season, this place was pure magic.

From early-morning pastries in Selva, to sunset strolls in Ortisei’s cozy downtown, to hikes that made every incline worth it - Val Gardena delivered a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and incredible food (yes, even German-influenced comfort dishes in the Italian Alps!).

🌴 Los Cabos Surprised Me ✈️

I’ll be honest: when I landed in Los Cabos, I wasn’t expecting much beyond the usual resort-and-tourist scene. But exploring San José del Cabo with no plan, an open mind, and an empty stomach turned into one of the most unexpectedly rich travel experiences I’ve had in a long time.

In my latest blog post, I share what really makes this corner of Baja special:

✨ A food scene far deeper than I imagined
From aguachile with roots tracing back to 19th-century Japanese migration, to the absolute best pastor taco I’ve ever eaten at Tacos El Paisa, Los Cabos is a dream for anyone who travels to eat.

✨ A bakery so good I ate there three days in a row, a Michelin-recognized gem serving pastries better than some I’ve had in Europe. (The conchas…my god.)

✨ A coffee culture that shocked me
As a self-proclaimed bean-juice addict, the specialty coffee scene blew me away with lattes that rival Italy. I said what I said.

✨ An art community unlike anywhere else in Mexico
San José’s galleries are filled with museum-quality work. The Thursday night Art Walk is reason enough to visit.

✨ Adventure & wellness woven into daily life
From the blooming wellness scene at Jardín Tropical, to a community built around trail running and mountain biking, Los Cabos is much more than beaches and tequila shots.
