This is DePaul University week for Paseo Boricua. We had a class called Walking Chicago where they are walking the whole city. The first stop was of course Paseo Boricua. After my tour they actually walked all the way to the Lake on Division St.

Thank you to all my FB & IG friends that sent me Happy Birthday wishes yesterday (08/31). Since this year my birthday landed on a Monday, I had to work. Lucky for me I love giving tours of Humboldt Park. This one was with a group of DePaul students. Unfortunately, the rain soaked the first part of the tour but we ended dry and in good spirits. 😜😊

Despite the grey clouds there’s always time for color. First time visitor to Paseo Boricua, Alejandra, enjoyed the tour of murals such as the “Sea of Flags” (2005) by Gamaliel Ramirez and “White Washed” (2017) by Cristian J Roldan . We passed Papa’s Cache Sabroso Restaurant where John Vergara John Vergara is installing a new fence full of paintings celebrating Puerto Rican Culture. As we continued we stoped by “Seeds from our Past” (2024) by Reynaldo GuAracibo Rodriguez and “El Schomburg” by Brenda Torres Figueroa Brenda Torres Figueroa . It wouldn’t be a tour of Paseo in 2026 without a visit to the mural dedicated to the 1966 Division Street Riots by Cristian Roldan Aponte. We ended this Sunday tour at Smashed Jibaritos Smash Jibarito for a delicious lunch. 😋
