Cicadas aren't around for long, so they prioritize one thing: finding a partner. 👀

Males put the call out for females by "singing": by vibrating a pair of ridged membranes called "tymbals" found on their abdomen, they create a buzzing sound that lets females know they're ready to help make the next generation of cicadas. 🥚 🪰

When cicadas sing near each other, their chorus can reach 90 decibels—that's about as loud as your hair dryer or city traffic passing by. 📣

Who knew a broken foot and desk duty could lead to love, but that is where it all started for these two lovebirds.

On Friday, June 8th I was privileged enough to document the love that Christine and Justin share with their friends and family. Their wedding has been a long anticipated day, with every little detail planned to perfection. All week I was nervous because of the weather report; the day may have started out stormy, but by the time their ceremony at St. John the Baptist Church had concluded with a kiss and church bells ringing, we had sunny skies.

A quick stop at Naperville Riverwalk for portraits and then it was time for their Meson Sabika reception. Candles, peonies and roses gave the room a warm and inviting feel. The donut cake tower in honor of their tie to the police force was a sweet ending to the night. Of course we had to end with one night photograph in front of the mansion while guests danced the night away.

It is a guarantee I will never forget their anniversary. You see June 8th is also special for me because it is my birthday. I LOVE photographing weddings on my birthday! What better way could there be to spend a day than doing what I love.

This is one of my favorite photos from a recent home weddings. I love how this mother is looking at her adult daughter, just minutes after the mom married the love of her life.

It's hard not to get choked up when your mother marries her partner of 27 years. The love this mother and daughter share is a beautiful thing and tears of joy were all around.

My trip to Antigua was booked 12 hours before my flight took off. Another case of when someone needs help, pick up my gear and go. My hear is still shining from this adventure.

Something I strongly believe in is To me, paying it forward and helping other photographers out is just the right thing to do. When I heard one of my community members was sick and needed help, I was happy to jump.

Katy & her maids were absolutely lovely to work with! They rolled with the changes and we made the best of it. I also found a new favorite spot in Ottawa Canyon at Starved Rock.
