This is a sad day for budget flying. Was Spirit a perfect airline? Definitely not. But for 33 years they made flying affordable to millions of people who wouldn't have been able to travel otherwise. And they did it without ever having a fatal accident. Hats off to you Spirit, you will be missed!

Since you are further away from the aisle, you are exposed to less people, movement, and germs. Plus you get a great view!

Couple more ways to stay healthy while flying:

• Aim the air vent toward your face at medium strength (this deflects airborne germs)
• Airplane air is super dry and weakens your immune system. Try some Vaseline or nose spray to keep your nasal passages moisturized
• Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Use electrolyte packs (like Liquid IV) for good measure
