Ensuring physical distancing, visitors arrive at the designated starting point with a mobile device and follow a virtual guide who takes guests along a designated route utilizing clearly marked maps with identified stops. Along the way, you’ll have access to companion videos and meet significant Clevelanders, portrayed by actors and actresses, who tell their stories.

One night. One of Cleveland’s oldest cemeteries. Two centuries of stories.

Join us Thursday, October 22, for a special tour of Erie Street Cemetery as part of Cleveland Buried History Days. Established in 1826, the cemetery is the resting place of Cleveland pioneer families and veterans of the Revolutionary War and Civil War.

The tour begins with the stories of Cleveland’s first permanent settlers and includes the lives of 19th-century civil rights pioneer John Malvin and Native American Joc-O-Sot, also known as Walking Bear.

Behind the iron gates of Brookmere Cemetery, nearly two centuries of Old Brooklyn history are waiting to be discovered.

On this 60-minute Stroll, explore beautiful monuments, ornate family plots, and headstones rich with historic symbolism. Hear the stories of the German immigrants and families buried here, including names that still appear on neighborhood streets today.

You’ll also learn how sisters Linda and Karen, whose ancestors are buried at Brookmere, have helped preserve the cemetery and bring its history to a new generation.
