Today's ALG Vacations Ascend 2026 highlight was hearing keynote speaker Will Guidara, bestselling author of Unreasonable Hospitality.
His message about the remarkable power of giving people more than they expect really resonated with me. Whether in hospitality, travel, or everyday life, it's those thoughtful, unexpected touches that turn a good experience into something truly memorable. A wonderful reminder that great service is about more than meeting expectations. It's about exceeding them! 🌴✈️

Tours 2 and 3 today visited two Riu Palace properties in Playa Del Carmen, one family friendly (Riu Palace Peninsula) and one adult only (Riu Palace Mexico). These hotels have numerous pools and great beach acces. They have something for everyone!

My first site tour today was at the Hyatt Zilara, a nice, smaller property with close beach access and a great spa.

Our final stop of the day Devossion by Live Aqua. This was right in the Playa Del Carmen hotel zone. My favorite part about this property was the amazing Spa! Great pools and restaurants too!

Stop 3: Joia Paraiso: adult only all inclusive. My favorite part about this property was the oceanfront, beach access rooms. If you want to walk off your patio, directly into the beach, then this might be for you!

Stop 2 was Alila Mayakoba a Hyatt property. This was a sprawling property divided into two sections, the beach (more active) and the lagoon (quieter, more zen). This all ages, European Plan property centers around wellness and even features personal cooking classes.

My first site inspection today was at
Secrets Moxche and its sister property Impressions (the elevated resort within Secrets) Playa Del Carmen. (Adult only all-inclusive). I really loved both, but the elevated accommodations at Impressions were particularly impressive. The rooftop pools, included cabanas, and beach club were top tier.

I am excited to be spending the week at ALG Ascend Conference. I will be touring a number of great resorts and attending useful training sessions. My first host resort is Paradisus La Perla, a beautiful adult only resort in Riviera Maya.
