Good morning everyone! The SPC has issued a 2% tornado risk in a slight risk area northwest of the WCMO region for tomorrow August 18th 2026.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible tomorrow mainly in the NW region of Missouri as well as NE Kansas and SW Iowa as well as SE Nebraska. This is a very low tornado risk but not zero. There is also a damaging wind and hail risk of 5% that extends down into WCMO and 15% wind and hail risk that is up in the tornado risk area.

A chase may be warranted if the risk extends farther down into WCMO by tomorrow.

With storm chasing season technically over we reflect on the numbers compared to last year.

Last year Missouri took 3rd overall for tornados. It didn’t feel like it this year however it was a substantially lower number. Reminder that these are preliminary numbers for this year and we could also see more as the year progresses.

The SPC has all of Missouri under a general risk for thunderstorms. We do have some ongoing pop up storms out in eastern Kansas as well as up around Warrensburg, MO at the moment. These are expected to behave! We hope you all have a great day!

This is a severe warned storm that we caught just east of 13 highway down Z highway sitting at Snyders corner on June 11th 2026. Notice the brief drill bit dropping out of this mesocyclone! Shortly after this a tornado possible tag was added to the severe warning!

Good afternoon! The SPC has issued yet another 2% tornado risk for tonight July 10th 2026 cells are expected to start firing anytime after 4PM

We are expecting to go full chase mode tonight covering WCMO most likely so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a live stream!

Good afternoon everyone and happy Wednesday! It’s a hot and humid one here in WCMO today!

We still have our eyes on tomorrow July 9th 2026 as the SPC has issued a 2% tornado risk that part of WCMO is under however the main risk sets up in Central Missouri eastward into Illinois.

As far as models go we are expecting a possibility for a couple rogue thunderstorms to initiate in WCMO and central Missouri after 5PM these storms will hold mainly a damaging wind threat and also an extremely low probability of a tornado but not a 0% chance! We are also expecting morning convection which could make the evening storms less potent.
