Happy weekend everyone! The SPC has issued a new outlook as of 12pm today and this is what we are watching.

The SPC has issued a 2-4% tornado risk for tomorrow Sunday may 31st 2026. This is a low end threat due to a capping inversion that is centered over the KS MO state line. If storms are able to break that cap we could have some robust thunderstorms. The tornado outlook for tomorrow is pictured below.

We are still a ways out from tomorrow but I will be keeping a close eye on models throughout the evening and we will decide if we will be chasing this risk or not. Some pop up thunderstorms that are borderline severe will be possible after 3pm today may 30th 2026. Y’all have a great weekend!

We have our eyes on this Sunday May 31st 2026 for a potential resurgence of severe weather on the Kansas and Missouri border! This is the unstable cape model showing potential high ceiling instability! We will keep you updated as this upticks or downticks!

Check out this massive line of thunderstorms out west of our area! The whole line is lit up with severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings. This is the line we will be watching early in the morning move through WCMO. Now it’s a waiting game to see if these things will calm down. Have a great night everyone!

We hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Hang with me beings this will be a long post. We may be starting the week off wet tomorrow morning May 18 2026 as the storms out in kansas overnight will eventually make there way to WCMO. This is what we are seeing at the moment.

The photos below are labeled but these are pictures of future radar, Unstable cape, and Sigtor parameters. We are seeing storms possible move into the region around 7-8 AM. With that being said given the time of day as the heating will not be at the max however we will still be right around 70 degrees around 6AM. First things first we have the unstable cape model showing right around 2,000 jewels at the same time. This is a high enough value for thunderstorms to continue to thrive and not die out. These storms will be feeding on this cape from Kansas all the way here.

Now we look at our sigtor parameter model. As you can see there is some yellow mixed with some blue. Meaning right now there will be some in WCMO that may be favorable for a quick spin up tornado. My opinion is it is a very low threat at the moment due to the heating. I’m watching for more of a wind threat and maybe hail. I just wanted to make this post so you have it in the back of your mind as this is the morning commute time for most of you! I may be hoping on YouTube to do a live update later! Expect a chase tomorrow evening as well!

Good morning everyone! We have had some upgrades overnight from the SPC and here is the updates.

We now have a moderate risk level 4 out of 5 for tomorrow may 18th 2026. This is mainly for the Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan areas. WCMO still remains under that slight risk area.

There is also a growing concern of large tornadoes for Monday as they have upgraded the tornado risk to a 15-19% tornado risk from Wichita KS stretching up to SW IA. WCMO also remains under a 2-4% risk and a 5-9% tornado risk. We also have a damaging wind and large hail threat that is elevated out in KS. Storm chase mode will be activated tomorrow evening!
