And it’s official.

The town tax assessor has received my notice of business closure for Archeress Arts. When asked when the closure date wound up being, I cited “immediately”, and explained that “I no longer have the time to keep up with the business and sadly it’s unlikely that there will be any craft fairs for the foreseeable future”, which was a fair, and real point that she understood.

It’s a bittersweet thing, but it’s the right move, given that my personal time after work is highly limited and already divided to priorities that give me joy and/or involve adult responsibilities/housekeeping.

Also that’s some accounting fees back in our pockets for 2022.

Jewelry supplies (and some displays) will be liquidated over Christmas break. Please keep an eye on this page for details.

Good morning, everyone!

I wanted to let you all know that although I am *not* one of the merchants from the (recently canceled, scheduled for this weekend) SCA event known as Gulf War in MS, I am a merchant who is considering shuttering her doors or at least closing up the jewelry making portion of the business.

This is due in large part to changing tax laws ($2000.00 in income tax paid between my husband and I this year due to a screwup by his HR dept), a reduction in availability to attend most major craft show events, and an outright refusal to give as much as 25% of my sales to Etsy should a visitor to my shop follow one of their now-mandated ads and pay with Etsy’s credit card system. Also, two of the upcoming events I had planned to bring inventory to were canceled this week due to the attempts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

To that end...

I’ll be listing a number of cabochons, brass/silver plate/gold plate and acrylic findings that I am in need of offloading to balance the books. I still have inventory such as hair sticks and painted pendants, and while I would LIKE to continue with the painted pieces, it makes no sense for me to carry inventory which I no longer use. Custom orders are unfortunately no longer able to be offered, at least for now.

Prices will be as posted for the de-stash, please do not try to bargain with me for pieces. But please watch this space for listings soon, and I can ship during the week this week, since suddenly the remainder of March looks to be rather open on my schedule.

Payments will be accepted by PayPal (online) for ease of online payment.

You know, if I had to paint, sew, embroider, carve or appliqué an heraldic Tyger all day long, I might feel a little bitey, too.

Good news, everyone!

I just got the call from the Birka Merchant Coordinator and YES, my shop is off the waiting list and WILL be on the main selling floor for Birka 2019!

Howdy y’all!

If you would like to obtain one of my larger painted custom cabochons (nearly 2” long by 1 1/4” wide), AND you enjoy participating in the Society for Creative Anachronism, and want to participate in a private fundraiser auction for TRH Brennan and Caoilfhionn’s upcoming reign, please drop me a line here and I would be happy to add you in.

My entry in the auction is a single hand painted custom cabochon for one each of the top three auction winners (no mounting or frame - but I can point you to people who know how to cast bezels or do wire weaving).

Details on the winning piece can be extensive, but please no portraits. ❤️

For an example of the size of the cabochon, please see the attached pics.

Again, please let me know if you want in on this, and I would be happy to pm you the auction link. Bids start in a week or two, at $1.00 starting bid (normal rate for this size/detail is $60).
(The Tyger of the East cabochon below is a private commission but is an example of both my work and the scale of the cabochon being offered in the auction).
