One-Eighty Out, Inc. Astronaut Duane "Digger" Carey has enjoyed the privilege of speaking to audiences of all ages throughout America and Europe.

Astronaut Duane "Digger" Carey co-founded One-Eighty Out, Inc., which specializes in inspiring people to believe they can achieve their dreams regardless of how unattainable those dreams may appear. Since 1996, he has addressed dozens of widely differing topics during his educational and motivational speeches, but the common theme is always this:

People can be inspired into believing and then ach

ieving their dreams, regardless of how unattainable those dreams may appear. Digger knows this is true because he proved it! From living in public housing and hopping freight trains, to piloting NASA’s Space Shuttle at Mach 26 (Space Shuttle Mission STS-109), commanding 60-aircraft multi-national strike packages during Operation Desert Storm, and test-piloting Air Force F-16 jet fighters beyond the edges of their flight envelopes, he’s got stories, experiences, and hard-won knowledge he’d love to share with your students, associates, or employees. What a great way to wrap up Space In The Community this week with a visit to Panorama Middle School. There is a good possibility out of the 300 students we saw today, we might see some new space explorers from this school.

Our features a lensing cluster 🔎

The giant galaxy cluster in the centre of this image contains so much dark matter that its gravity bends the light of more distant objects. This means that for very distant galaxies in the background, the cluster’s gravitational field acts as a sort of magnifying glass, bending and concentrating the distant object’s light towards the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.

These gravitational lenses are one tool astronomers can use to extend Hubble’s vision beyond what it would normally be capable of observing. This way some of the very first galaxies in the Universe can be studied by astronomers!
