Wondering where I’ve been? Probably not, but if you were one of the three people curious why I’ve stopped posting…

Well I’ve been on a sailboat, at the beach for a month and a half, rode some bird scooters, went to a baseball game, found myself a boyfriend (wasn’t expecting that were you), “fractured” my wrist, got more hate comments on TikTok, booked a trip to Europe, went to a aviation museum, and finally home dealing with post trip blues and trying to get back into a routine.

I’ll explain it all on the pod, if I can find my mic. Stay sweaty friends.

WELCOME BACK SWEATY FRIENDS!

This week I welcome some very special people to the podcast. Please put your hands together for Amanda Kingsmith & Ryan Ferguson from the World Wanderers Podcast!

Amanda and Ryan are dear friends that I met in Merida MX and I am so excited to have them here on the podcast.

Today we talk dive into...

• Their travel journey as a couple
• What their family has to say about their lifestyle
• A messy shower situation in Mexico City
• Their car breaking down in Chiapas
• Why they got back into a car with a crazy man and NO AC!

I loved being able to sit down and talk about their sweatiest moments on the road over the past 10 years and I hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed recording it!

Just a reminder the photos you see on IG aren’t always reality.

For example, 20 mins before this photo I woke up in the back of a RAV4 freezing cold because I forgot winter clothes and had to p*e outside of a trashy mountain motel.

Remember things on the other side are always much sweatier than they seem.

Drop a sweaty traveler moment in the comments⬇️⬇️

STAYING IN A HOSTEL? Save this post✨

It feels like years since I’ve booked a hostel. With COVID, they weren’t really an option. This pic is from the first hostel I ever stayed in, the first time I ever got bit by bedbugs 😂

I was so excited to see a bed after traveling for 20 hours I didn’t even think to check the bed. I had no idea what to expect from my first hostel experience but since staying in about 100 hostels since then here is what I’ve learned about hostels and what to look for when booking!⬇️

1. READ REVIEWS- using hostelworld I won’t go under a 9.0 rating, even that gets a little low.

2. Book a hostel with a kitchen- this saves you money and gives you a good opportunity to meet people while cooking!

3. Check the bed- the only two times I’ve gotten bedbug bites were when I didn’t check the bed. Don’t be embarrassed, they’re very common w so many travelers coming through. Tell the front desk so they can try to help.

4. Spend a bit more to feel safe! I used to book 10-15 dollar hostels and there is no chance I would be doing that now. I always spend a bit more money for an all female room or safer environment overall.

5. Don’t book more than 2 nights. I never book my entire trip in one hostel. 9/10 times I end up extending my stay but on the off chance the first night is awful you have the chance to book elsewhere!

Have you stayed in a hostel? Drop your tips below!⬇️⬇️⬇️

“Don’t you get lonely while traveling alone?”

Short answer… sometimes!

Long answer… I’m going to get lonely whether I’m sitting at home in my apartment in Columbus or sitting in a hostel in Prague, so I might as well be lonely in another country.

One thing travel has taught me is how important it is to learn how to be alone. Being comfortable with yourself and being okay being alone is my number one tip for solo travel.

So when I travel alone do I get lonely? Yeah every once in awhile, but I put in a solid effort to make friends and put myself out there. I FaceTime the fam when I miss home, make sure to stay in contact with friends, and join meetups in cities I visit.

This day in Prague I explored the city with friends I met on a walking tour. We paddled boarded on the river, drank Czech beer, and spray painted the John Lennon Wall. It’s a day I won’t forget and something I wouldn’t have done if I didn’t try and make friends in a new city!

What’s your tip for solo travelers to make friends?

Last year around this time and I took our trip out to the Pacific Coast Highway. ✈️

You may look at these photos and think how excited I was to start my first big road trip. Or see how happy I was to see snow and explore Mount Rainer.✨

What you don’t see is how I forgot to pack warm clothes so I had to wear Chloe’s sweatshirts (were very different sizes lol). You don’t sleep us sleeping in the back of our rented RAV4 with no blankets or p*eing outside at 4 am by a hotel sign because we were scared of the dark. You don’t see us napping in our car at the top of the mountain because we were so exhausted from the night before and you for sure don’t see the giant family of rats running around the parking lot where we ate packs of tuna and instant rice 😂

These photos remind me of all the crazy we encountered on this trip and how almost all of it could have been avoided but we wanted to rough it and I wouldn’t change a thing because all those memories are special to me because the “sweaty” is what makes the moments (like the ones in these photos) worth it.❤️

Drop a comment if you agree and if you have sweaty stories of your own head to the link in my bio and leave a voicemail to be played on the podcast!🎙

Exploring at home 🏡

This weekend my glorious mother drug us to the Schnormeier Gardens in Gambier, OH.🌳

I was hung over and didn’t really want to drive 45 mins to the middle of no where but I’m so glad I did! Living in the Midwest I never really explore my own backyard and I can’t believe I haven’t been to this hidden gem. It’s STUNNING. They only open it for 16 days a year and last year alone they had 20,000 visitors in that time span. To protect the gardens you now need to make reservations but I would suggest booking next years already🤩

The gardens are a private residence that the family turned into a sanctuary with a Japanese teahouse, garden house, Chinese pavilion and arched bridge and tons of beautiful landscaping and art.🌸

So this is your sign to explore your own backyard more, find the hidden gems, and book these gardens for next year… it’s worth the trip!

Have you tried surfing before?🏄🏽‍♀️

I tried surfing for the first time this past weekend and I think I fell in love😍

I would have never in a million years gone surfing on my own but a trip with was the perfect way to get introduced to this incredible sport.🙌

When one of our guides (Roberto) was explaining to the basics I was freaking out on the inside. The waves weren’t huge but they weren’t small either and nature can be intimidating.🥵

I got in the water, hopped on my board, paddled out (with help), got turned around (with help again), and caught my first ever wave (I think you know where this is going), and guess what... I stood up!!!! I freaking surfed and it was amazing😭

We spent the next two hours getting destroyed by waves and catching a few along the way😂 by the end I literally could barely paddles my arms were so tired.

There were so many moments when I just stopped and thought to myself “I cannot believe this is my life.” I had so much fun and can’t wait to surf again🥺🏄🏽‍♀️☀️

If you ever make it to Sayulita MX check out !
