Support Conover’s downtown businesses!

The Conover Candy Crawl is THIS Saturday, Oct 17, 2 to 5 PM in downtown Conover! Come in costume, and bring your own trick-or-treat bag or bucket (we're not supplying them). 📱 Screenshot the map so you've got the route in your pocket. Here's every stop:

1️⃣ Shoppes on Main: treats, plus a look at their new everyday and holiday wear. Get your holiday outfit sorted early.
2️⃣ EVEXÍA: mural photo op, so get the whole crew in costume in front of it 📸 While you're there, grab some candy for the grown-ups and stock up on supplements. The kids got their haul, you deserve yours.
3️⃣ Carpe Diem Antiques: that's us! We'll be dressed up and out front with temporary tattoos and treats.
4️⃣ Gaston County Ghostbusters: co****le, a Slimer toss game, their equipment on display (ask them anything), treat bags, candy and stickers.
5️⃣ Embroidery Heaven: the fortune teller is back 🔮
6️⃣ Conover Masonic Lodge: handing out candy.
7️⃣ Narrow Gauge Express: set up near the alley with coffee for the grown-ups and candy for sale. Fuel up, it's a long crawl.
8️⃣ Patriot Jerky: Frankenstein and Winifred are handing out candy. After all that sugar, grab a bag of salty jerky to balance things out. Trust us.
9️⃣ Snag & Swag Boutique: guess how many pieces of candy corn are in the jar for a chance to win Snag Cash. Costume wearers get a discount, there's candy for the first 1,000, and they're promising a few surprises. Open 9 AM to 5 PM that day.
🔟 Lion's Mane: the Candy Cowgirls 🤠 Halloween's two weeks out, so while you're there, book a new hairstyle or nails for the big night on October 31.
1️⃣1️⃣ Schwarzbär Ale Haus: 2nd Annual Jewlz-Toberfest, 12 to 10 PM. Food truck, stein holding, keg roll, pumpkin painting and games. Prost! 🍻
1️⃣2️⃣ The Perfect Workout: Daily Dish popcorn and candy at the end of the route. Keep going down Conover Station SE toward the park, then ask about memberships so all that candy doesn't stick around till Thanksgiving 💪

Big thank you to Cline Builders. They're slammed with construction projects this fall but still let us use their alley. 1877 has a catered event Saturday and couldn't join this year, and we're hoping to see them and French Hen on the crawl next year!

Bring a little cash for coffee, jerky, food truck eats, and the vendors in the Shoppes/EVEXÍA lot (Lemonanigans and Carolina Trading Co.).

Here’s your chance to let your thought be known 😍 Let City of Conover know what you’d like to see as a mural in our beloved community! 🎨🖌️

🎨 The City of Conover has received a grant from Arts Culture Catawba to support a mural in downtown Conover.

To make sure this work truly represents our community, we have opened a community input survey that is open now through October 30th. Share what Conover means to you and help us create something that belongs to this community and will become part of the heart of downtown for decades to come.

Only one week from now we’ll be setting up for Conover's Bootiful Movie Night featuring the Disney hit Hocus Pocus!!

What costume will you wear?!

Come see our friendly volunteers from Community Horizons ABA for games on the lawn starting at 6pm.

We’ll have some free concessions for the first 150 people thanks to our partners at Peoples Bank NC - Conover and popcorn from our local Rural King.

We are so excited to have Footcandle Film Society with their state of the art screen and sound making our movie pure magic!

Come enjoy beverages or ice cream from Hickory Fizz and The Magic COOL Bus.

This is going to be an event you don’t want to miss for community and fun together 🤩

There is a sentence I wish more residents would ask themselves before criticizing our city.

“What would Conover become if everyone contributed the way I do?”

Would the city be friendlier?
Would guests be welcomed?
Would children feel loved?
Would lonely people be noticed?
Would services be strengthened?
Would burdens be shared?
Would positivity increase?
Would encouragement multiply?
Would the leaders be refreshed?
Would the community be healthier?

That question is uncomfortable because it turns the conversation inward.

It is easy to talk about what “the community” should do.

It is harder to remember that we are the community.

There is no mysterious group of people somewhere else who are supposed to create community for us.

The community becomes loving as its people practice love.

The community becomes welcoming as its people welcome.

The community becomes generous as its people give.

At some point, the community we are looking for will require the contribution we have been withholding.

So maybe the question isn’t simply, “What is my city doing for me?”

Maybe it’s, “What can I do to make my city better?”

Invite someone in. Encourage someone who is serving. Volunteer. Support a local business. Show up. Pick up the phone. Lend a hand. Bring a positive attitude. Share your time, your talents, or simply your willingness to care.

The community we want doesn’t start with someone else. It starts with us.

Conover Community Partners was not created just to make people aware of what’s going on or plan a few events a year. CCP was formed out of an abundance of love for Conover and a desire to serve the citizens and visitors from inward, together.

We come together to add what we can to our city, whether that’s a cleanup project like Lyle Creek Cleanup to mitigate flooding to residents and streets, a Meet the Owner event so you can meet a local business owner, or an opportunity for children to see Santa and play games together. All of these couldn’t have happened without the generosity of volunteers and partners.

Having a great idea or even willingness doesn’t accomplish much, showing up does. We are at a juncture that we need you or we can’t accomplish anything.

More news to come regarding our upcoming events and opportunities to connect but let’s work together to be the people who make our community a little kinder, a little stronger, and a little more connected—together. ❤️

The Conover Cruz'n, Car Show for a Cause 2026 was a huge success!

We started the day with cloud cover but by 11am it was sunny skies 😎.
The park was filled with cars and trucks from all makes and models. The food was delicious and great tunes all day.

We couldn't have asked for a better day, Thanks to everyone who came together to make the day run like a well oiled machine.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the cause, the final numbers are still being tallied.
