Planning a closed-loop cruise from the U.S.?

These cruises begin and end at the same U.S. port, and in many cases, U.S. citizens can travel without a passport.

Instead, a government-issued photo ID and an original or certified copy of your birth certificate are often accepted.

However, some destinations may still require a passport, and having one can provide flexibility and security in case of emergencies or unexpected changes.

Always check with your cruise line for specific documentation requirements before you travel.

Lost Your Passport Abroad? Here’s What to Do!

1️⃣ Contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate for help: travel.state.gov/destination.

2️⃣ Speak to the Consular Section to report it lost or stolen.

3️⃣ Visit the embassy/consulate in person to apply for an emergency passport.

4️⃣ Replace it with a full-validity passport when you’re back in the U.S.

Fun Fact: U.S. emergency passports are purple! 💜

Passport Book vs. Passport Card: Know the Difference!

✅ Passport Book: For air, sea, or land travel internationally. Frequent travelers can get a larger book at no extra cost.

❌ Passport Card: Not valid for international air travel. Only for land border crossings and sea ports-of-entry from Canada, Mexico, some Caribbean countries, and Bermuda.

Both serve as Real IDs. Make sure you have the right one for your travel needs!
