We tried the Teppanyaki Specialty Restaurant on one of our cruises. NCL has the option to add Specialty Dining when you book your cruise. The Main Dining Room is free, as is the buffet, but sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself!

Does your cruise line still make towel animals?

We were disappointed a few years ago to learn that NCL doesn’t always leave towel animals on our bed anymore….but Carnival did on a couple of nights!

NCL typically does a Towel Animal demonstration during the cruise, and it’s not a major thing, but there’s something whimsical about walking into your room and finding one of these cuties sitting there waiting to say hello!

Is there anywhere beyond cruise lines that leave towel animals, like at a resort?

Amanda and her Book Club had a “Bookish Weekend” in Fairhope, Alabama.

Amanda, “It is such a cute town! There are multiple little shops and restaurants, a walking path along Mobile Bay, some reasonably priced Airbnb’s, and a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. I’d happily go back!”

Shhh, don’t tell Amanda that I used the photo of her posing by the rental car!

I wanted to ask what rental car company you prefer? Do you have status and get perks? What about them makes you go back over and over?

I prefer Sixt for my cars in Europe, but in the US, I pick whichever company has the best price….is that the right way to choose? I don’t know.

I can book rental cars to go along with flights, cruises, and experiences.

Travel Log: Hohenstein Castle Ruins, July 2024

Which staying Pressath, Germany, we took a day trip (about a 40 minute drive) to visit the Hohenstein Castle ruins. It was a steep climb (Amanda almost quit a couple of times), but thankfully we had heard of the small restaurant at the foot of the castle where we stopped to relax before going up.

The castle was built around 1190, and the views from its battlements were amazing.
