Adventure Suites in North Conway, NH has become something of a White Mountains institution because it offers an experience that’s the opposite of a typical hotel stay. Instead of simply being a place to sleep, it invites guests to step into a different world during their getaway.
Why we love it:
* Every suite tells a story. Whether it’s sleeping in a cave, a treehouse, a Roman villa, a dragon’s lair, or even a haunted castle, the rooms are immersive rather than decorative. The owners spent years sourcing authentic pieces from around the world to make each theme feel convincing rather than gimmicky.
* Attention to tiny details. Guests discover hidden lighting effects, custom murals, hand-carved décor, indoor jetted tubs, waterfalls, fiber-optic stars, themed sound effects, and clever surprises that make exploring the room part of the fun. Even repeat visitors notice something new.
* It embraces playfulness. Adventure Suites gives adults permission to be kids again while still offering romance and luxury. Couples celebrate anniversaries and proposals there, while families and friend groups enjoy larger themed suites. It’s whimsical without taking itself too seriously.
It’s uniquely New England. Nestled in North Conway against the backdrop of the White Mountains, it pairs naturally with hiking, the Conway Scenic Railroad, shopping, and fall foliage. After a day exploring, returning to a fantasy-themed suite feels like another attraction rather than just heading back to a hotel.
* It has personality-plus. Unlike chain hotels, the owners have continued adding features like the White Horse Saloon, a spa, outdoor fire pits, playgrounds, and even the world’s only simulated haunted hotel room, keeping the property evolving year after year.
This is our 5th stay here, with the family and as a couple, with the latest being the Roman Rendezvous suite this time around.
