🌴💦 A LITTLE FLORIDA ADVENTURE – WEEKI WACHEE SPRINGS 💦🌴

When you think of Florida, it’s easy to think Disney, Universal, shopping and beaches… but some of our favourite experiences have been discovering the completely different side of Florida. 🌴

One of those was Weeki Wachee Springs 💙

Rather than just visiting for the day, we decided to stay for two nights in a house right on the spring, and honestly, this made the experience so much better!

We had kayaks right outside the house, so we could head off and explore whenever we fancied. 🛶 The house also had its own waterslide and rope swing straight into the water, which the boys absolutely loved! 😂💦

And if that wasn't enough, we hired Go Round boats to explore further along the waterways. It was such a brilliant way to see the area and get out and about on the water.

The water is incredibly clear and the whole area is surrounded by lush Florida greenery and wildlife. It's peaceful, beautiful and feels like a completely different Florida from the one most people come to experience.

🧜‍♀️ Of course, Weeki Wachee is also famous for its mermaids, but for us, the real highlight was simply being able to stay right on the water and enjoy it at our own pace.

⭐ Our tip: If you're travelling around this part of Florida, don't just visit Weeki Wachee and head home. Allow a couple of nights if you can and explore some of the other springs in the area too. There are some amazing places to discover.

It was one of those trips where we weren't rushing around trying to tick things off a list — we just enjoyed being together, getting out on the water and having a bit of an adventure. ❤️

Definitely one we'd do again! 🇺🇸🌴

No getting up at 5am to get the best sunbeds at Solterra Palms. 🌅

All day sun and stunning sunsets await you from our south West facing pool deck.

I know I’m biased but they are also the most comfortable sunbeds I’ve ever used.

Flightline Cafe at Winter Haven airport.

This is a light aircraft airport where you can see all sorts of aircraft’s taking off and landing.

The cafe overlooks the runway so you can watch the planes while you eat.

This is the sound of nature at night, I can only imagine what lives in the conservation area.

It’s so relaxing sitting on the deck listening to the chorus of frogs.
